Loved seeing the little houses our ancestors lived in. The furniture was amazing to see. Loved the little church. The stream and the friendly ducks all around. So much to learn from here. Nice afternoon with bus tour. Great cheap gift shop as well.

We visited during a busy weekend, but the spread of houses to visit made the crowds a non-issue. In order to appreciate each era of ranch life, it is necessary to take long walks between the sites. This makes cooler months perfect, but I would avoid going during Texas summer months. Docents were in costume matching timelines, and we even watched cowboys working cattle. It is a definite recommendation.

We stayed all day and absolutely loved every minute of it. We toured the four dwellings built by four different generations of the pioneering family (furnished log dog trot, farm house, grand Victorian house, and the large 1930's house.) The family was one of the first in the area, and it's still a working ranch. Lots of history and a great experience for a city slicker. Since it's a living history museum, you'll see docents in period costume roping steer, baking bread, quilting, etc. They're very friendly and knowledgable about the family and the property. Not to be missed, if you're there at the right time, is Tea under a big tree, dripping with Spanish Moss. They really outdo themselves with scones, sandwiches, pasties, etc. Loved it! For almost two hours we traveled back in time and felt like visiting dignitaries. Can't believe how affordable the tea was - great value! In short, we LOVED our day at George Ranch. Nice visitor center and gift shop, plus plenty of free parking. Can walk the property or take the free tractor pulled trailer that makes continuous rounds from place to place. Should definitely be on your Houston Itinerary.

We came straight from the airport, and we spent a wonderful afternoon. It was very hot, but totally worth it. We saw all the cattles jumping in the water, so unexpected and fun! We visted only 2 houses with both the explanations, what a trip in the past! People who work there are very very nice. Because people actually lived in these houses means much more than a reconstruction of past architecture. The all family really enjoyed.
