Visited in July 2018, unfortunately they were still upgrading some areas of the site, and this caused some noise issues. The reception and restaurant area had not been finished and they were grassing areas in front of the bungalows. We had to ask to be moved as we woke up to workmen right outside our patio digging!! Reception were very quick to move us to a more peaceful location on site. Bungalows very very clean, pool area excellent, and I could see that when all the upgrades had been finished the site would be excellent.

I have spenat one week with my family. Nice staff and clean house. The problem is that the main building is under construction, this means: no gym, restaurant and workers everywhere....there was no information about this when we booked the bungalow

We have stayed in the bungalows several times before over the years and have been a very loyal customer and have a club cordial loyalty card. Having been satisfied with the services across the group we feel best placed to give an honest view after coming here for years.

Not everyone may know but the the complex had been closed from 1st May 2018 to the 30th June 2018 for renovation work. On checking Facebook (Bungalows Cordial Biarritz) we were even more pleased to see nice new pictures and a sense of excitement from them reopening on the 1st. We had checked in on the 7th July for two weeks. (a week after reopening) I cannot express how disappointed and frustrated we were as the complex is still a building site and our bungalow (169) that we have stayed in before a couple of times previously is in a worse condition than before the renovation.

Below is a list of issues in the bungalow alone that we raised, some more serious than others but we shouldn’t have needed to raise any of them at all;

Wiring in bedroom sticking out and dangerous as live wires exposed.
Electrical switch in living room exposed.
Electrical Plug in bathroom exposed.
Cooker Hob tripping electrics and giving electric shocks.
Bottom tiles missing near front door.
No TV in bedroom despite listing as it should.
Outside lights in the bungalow patio and front door only working during the day.
Toilet constantly dripping and damaged.
No WiFi in bungalow
Taps in kitchen fitted the wrong way round.

The TV was installed in the bedroom 12 days later as they are installing new ones in the lounge and moving the old ones into the bedroom. (Once installed it doesn’t work as there is no signal on the tv so must be a fault on the new cable running into the bedroom)

The bungalow was also filthy and after arriving we had to dust and mop the whole bungalow as it was covered in settled builders dust. Given all the ground work in progress it’s safe to say the the critters have been unsettled as on the first night we had to remove 9 cockroach’s from the living area. This is highly unusual as we have stayed here loads and never experienced this amount of problem with them.

The rest of the complex when we arrived was a mess with the old reception an empty shell and a temporary makeshift reception in a bungalow. It is very important to state that the local staff that we have dealt with have been fantastic and have worked very hard to try and fix the issues and wanted to personally thank Marcus from reception who was amazing and Gregorio from maintenance who unfortunately had to pick up the work from the sloppy contractors and worked really hard to fix most of the list of issues.

We had been offered free breakfasts for two weeks which is thoughtful but we would rather just have a relaxing holiday without feeling like the site foreman having to point out issues that should have been resolved prior to letting customers into the bungalows and I certainly didn’t expect a 220v shock off the cooker hob as the live wiring were making contact with the hob.

Reception had offered to move us to another bungalow which isn’t easy if the whole complex is still a “work in progress” They also offered to move us to another hotel which sounds good but is over 13 miles away (25 minutes in the the car) plus a hotel, isn’t self catering bungalows!
In addition the location is away from playa Del Inglés and nowhere near the beach. If we wanted to book a holiday in another part of Gran Canaria (Mogan) we would have done that.

We had booked in good faith as previous loyal customers and feel completely and utterly let down by the cordial group. When you go on holiday, it’s the experience that also counts as you only have a week or two to make the most of your time away and to be placed into a quite frankly dangerous bungalow and semi completed complex is totally unacceptable given the size of the cordial group.

Given the seriousness of the faults we were introduced to Fernando (Customer experience manager) who visited the bungalow and saw at first hand the issues. Fernando was more than apologetic and in fairness had no defence as the issues were all self evident both inside the bungalow and the rest of the complex.

Fernando did come back after some of the work had been done to see how we were. He also offered us a day at their Mogan hotel to use the spa and facilities as a way of an apology. He asked us to give him at least a days notice and he would arrange. This was thoughtful and something that was appreciated although we would have preferred to arrive and have a relaxing holiday straight away.

As agreed, I visited reception and gave them more than needed as gave 4 days notice of when we could go and was told Fernando would drop off our invitation either later that day or the following day. Nothing arrived and when I visited reception again on the Monday we were supposed to head up to Mogan there was nothing arranged at all.

Clearly an empty promise which is a shame as Fernando did try to resolve and we ended up speaking to another manager Daniel who offered to finish off what Fernando should have done but empty promises are worse than no promise at all. I am still unsure what had gone wrong but felt let down again and we shouldn’t have needed to chase as it looses all meaning of a meaningful apology.

Given all of this we didn’t take them up on the offer as the attitude and false promises just shows us how little they care.

It is very obvious that the issues are down to management who are more interested in making money than giving the best service and holiday experience.

I have posted several pictures to give you an idea of the mess and unfinished work that we encountered (not that you would ever know if you looked at the facebook page.) It’s really insulting to see the duplicity of creative Facebook postings about the complex and using older pictures making it look complete is beyond contempt for its customers.

It’s such a real shame to leave feedback like this as mentioned we have been coming for years and loved the place but the whole experience has put us off especially the sloppy workmanship and gross negligence from the Cordial group to ensure the bungalows are fit for purpose and all of this when the bungalow that we paid for is classed as “Superior” !!

We are also aware from Facebook that some Tour operators where offering to relocate holiday makers to other venues given the work was still ongoing and not completed on time. Knowing what we know now would have just insisted on a “Hojas de Reclamaciones” from reception which is a formal complaint form that allows any customer who has a complaint against a Spanish service provider to enter the complaint officially with the local council becoming involved. But really, a holiday should be just that and not completing paperwork and tracking down council offices.

Finally We cannot thank Marcus and Gregorio enough as they were speedy, understanding and did everything they could in very stressful circumstances put on them by their employer but shame on the Bungalows Cordial Biarritz you are total disgrace to honest paying customers who put so much faith and trust if your business. You allowed customers to travel thousands of miles to a incomplete and dangerous complex without any contact or notice (despite you having all of my contact details on record for years) your contempt is truly breathtaking.

So far staff are lovely, 2-bed superior bungalow is spacious, comfortable and clean. Could use some wine glasses and large mugs for tea/coffee - small teacups are tiny! Consider a bunk bed option for families with 3 kids please - rooms are spacious enough! A sun parasol would be hugely welcome on terraces, especially for paler Irish visitors! Building works still ongoing when we arrived, WiFi poor, many things still to be finished. There were lots of cigarette butts in garden area around pool especially bungalow 140. Will see how the rest of the holiday goes!
