We are staying at the Hotel as I write this on the balcony of my room. Watching the sunset over the sand dunes it really is a Hotel in a great location. Weather here is generally warm all year round, end of Sep now and it was 32 today. On to the hotel, some may find it a bit old and dated now with oak finishing in the rooms and dark wood around. But you have to see beyond all that, the staff are all very friendly always happy to help for any problems or just happy to chat with you during the day. There are lots of sun beds even later in the am or early pm. People still reserve them which I find annoying especially if they don't turn up until 11am!! The rooms are spacious and have lots of storage three drawers on each bedside table an extra three drawers under the tv table. A cupboard under the tv table and a mini fridge. Lots of hanger space in the two wardrobes. The bathroom is also roomy with a bath shower a hair dryer. The towels are changed regularly and room made up every day. Most rooms have a side sea view or pool view or if you are lucky on the top floor you get sea view pool view and sand dunes view.
Food is excellent, hot and lots of it. Lots of different cuisine to cater for all including a vegetarian station. Live cooking stations and great deserts. Wine selection is good but on the expensive side at about £15 a bottle.
The evening entertainment is ok a bit on the old side for my wife and I. As are clientele at this time of year I would say that the average age is about 60 in the hotel and we have seen only 1 small child aged about 4.
The pool area is large and spacious two pools one with water massage chairs and a jacuzzi and the other bigger one which is very quiet. No inflatables allowed though so don't bring any to use in the pool. The beach/sea is about 30 mins walk over the dunes but worth the long walk. Overall this is a great Hotel if a bit quiet for our liking we walked the 20 mins each night to the Jumbo centre to liven up the night out after our evening meal.
I would recommend this Hotel to anyone except 18-30 year olds looking to party.

My wife and I have taken our September holidays at the Rou Palace Maspalomas for many years, this year from September 4th to the18th. Again we had in all aspects fantastic holiday from start top finish. The hotel is expertly managed by Director Roberto Jimenez and his staff all of which are very professional, very pleased to see you and do there best to make you welcome. We always go half board having an excellent choice of dishes for breakfast with champaign if you so wish. In the evening you can enjoy drinks on the terrace prior to diner, this is done in two sittings 6.30 to 8.30 and 8.30 till10.30. After that if you are inclined you can return to the terrace just for a chat or watch the evenings entertainment. The Hotel is built in grand style on the outside with the interior design being colonial in design. Some say it looks a little tired which to be honest it does however all the hotel guests I have chatted with over the years love it and like us return year after year, the hotel has a certain atmosphere we have not found in any other hotel. We understand the hotel is due for a total refurbishment in 2019 , we just hope this will in no way spoil what we have enjoyed for many years. At the moment the hotel is NOT ALL INCLUSIVE and we hope it stays this way thus avoiding the grab it all and boozing brigade. While you see the odd child it should be noted that the hotel does not have many facilities for the kiddies as other hotels do, also you should be aware that the hotel grounds and swimming pools are very maintained but there are no LIFE GUARDS at the poolside at any time so the parents must be responsible for the children. The hotel is situated on the edge of the famous sand dunes about 800mt from the beach ( be sure to follow the markers and not try and cross the dunes ). From the front of the impressive building is the local bus stop and taxi rank , also a short walk to the shopping areas. My wife and I will be returning in January to the Riu Palace in January where you can be sure of a welcome and a WARM SUNNY climate.

Had a wonderful week with family at this lovely hotel and we were not the easiest of groups to please, being aged between 5 and 79 years of age!

Staff were so helpful and pleasant; always trying to go the extra mile.

Hotel itself is spotless, modern and very beautiful, as are the rooms.

Location is great; a few minutes stroll by the sea and you’re right in the middle of all the action.

Highly recommend this jewel of a place.

Everything near perfect, hotel, room, grounds; food was reasonably good compared with most package tour hotels but an bit repetitive, loved the free Cava for breakfast and eating outdoors in the sun was a delight, but slight downside was the reserving of sunbeds by placing towels on early in the mornings (luckily there was always a few left to choose from albeit in not so good positions); hotel policy is to not to allow this but they do not appear to do anything about it so far as we could see! Unlike wearing (smart) shorts for dinner (in the outside seated area when the majority of their clients had finished their meal and with all but 2 tables still occupied); I know you will say rules are rules but I think double standards; anyway it took the edge of a brilliant holiday

Room Tip: Higher floors to the rear - Central

My 2nd time at this hotel and it was better than the first time and the first time was amazing.

Everything from the waiter bringing a pot of coffee in a morning, not to mention the 7 different types of freshly made smoothie, to the evening meals of fillet steak and whole leg of lamb carved off the bone, to the spa pool and Jacuzzi and the cleanliness of the rooms, they exceed in all aspects.

Arrived and greeted by friendly reception staff, shown to my room by the concierge who took my suitcase and was very chatty. The restaurant staff are also excellent, friendly and seem to know what drink you want before you do! Friendly bar staff polite and courteous, always on hand to go get whatever you wanted - no cash needed, charges can be put to your room and paid on check-out.

My room was a corner room, with an enormous balcony overlooking the Dunes to the sea. Gorgeous. The room was clean and airy, plenty of light - (hairdryer not great though! good job I took my own). It had a well stocked fridge, a tv with plenty of UK channels, you can hire the safe for a small charge and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.

Both pool areas immaculate and well kept garden areas. Clean pool towel available daily if you wanted. I liked the smaller pool area best, it had a Jacuzzi and water jets and plenty of sun lounger beds.

The week went by far too quickly. This hotel is a gem.

Room Tip: Ask for a Sea/SandDune view. Amazing.
