What a nightmare Sol Jandia Mar was from start to finish. The apartment complex was so awful that we stayed for 1 night and then paid extra to move to a new apartment block close by.

We were greeted by a rude and unfriendly male receptionist who made us feel very unwelcome. After dragging our suitcases up 4 flights of steep stairs, and several ramps we reached our apartment at the back of the hotel up another flight of spiral stairs!!!
Anyway, the climb was pretty touch in 35 degree heat, but that was nothing compared to our reaction when we opened the door. Basic kitchen, basic bedroom etc. We didn't expect a lot with 3* but the main room was disgusting. dirty, cracked walls etc. We opened the balcony door (no aircon nightmare!!!) to be greeted by a dirty stained garden table and one chair which was filthy. There was dirt and cracks all over the walls and lots of ants. Utter nightmare. We rang the tour operator straight away after reception were unhelpful about moving us. The tour operator were just as unhelpful (bookable holidays) and we demanded that we be moved as soon as possible. We realised by this time that we had wasted the majority of our first day faffing around, all because of this awful hotel!!!

We had to pay an extra £100 to move hotels but once we had got out of that hell hole we had an amazing holiday in the wonderful Jandia resort. We stayed one night at the Sol Jandia Mar. It was awful. No aircon and couldn't open windows because a lizard came in and there was so many ants.
Please read my review of the fantastic Alameda de Jandia to hear about a lovely 3* apartment with friendly staff, quick access and wonderful rooms. I have also written about the wonderful places to eat and visit as a brit in Morro Jable (which is predominantly a german/spanish resort)

My advice would be to not even bother booking. It is a HELL HOLE! I will add pictures when I have downloaded them.

Ok so last time I went to Fuerteventura was 3 years ago and we stayed at a 4 star hotel Elba Sara which was near the airport and midway between corralejo and morro jable so quite good for travelling around main tourist bits. This time round, my brother and I wanted to enjoy the beautiful Jandia coastline as in my opinion, easily fits in with some of the best caribbean/south east asian beaches with its white sand and clear blue waters (albeit cold). Sol Jandia Mar, however, whilst not ruining the holiday didnt really enhance it. The major dissapointment on arrival was that there was no air con in the rooms, the day time was bearable if the windows were opened but in the evenings the heat was so bad we couldnt sleep. The next day we had to buy a fan without which we would not have been able to sleep for the whole week. apart from that, everything else was ok. the food was ok, a couple of the staff were pleasant and helpful and another 1 or 2 were cold and indifferent. The rooms are ok, for a 3 star hotel and what you pay for i suppose its good value for money. so dont expect anything amazing. its just a base for you to sleep and shower, spend the rest of your time on the beach or at the shops. overall, beach beautiful, hotel just about ok as long as you bring a fan with you!

Me and my boyfriend went to this hotel for our first holiday away together and thought it was great. Although we are both 18, we weren't looking for a nightlife holiday so this location was perfect - the hotel was peaceful but friendly and there were still many bars/restaurants located nearby.

We were fairly anxious about the transfer from the airport, but it was very easy to find our shuttle bus, and although the journey did take quite a while (a little over an hour) it was nice to see the rest of the island. However, once we'd arrived at the hotel we had a long walk to our room, up several flights of stairs, so this hotel would not be suitable for some. We also arrived just after dinner had finished and were told that there was nothing available for us unless we came back at 10 - however we were hungry after the journey so decided to find a restaurant in the town instead.

The rest of the meals at the hotel were pleasant - we went half board, and at breakfast there was a large variety of food available. At dinner there was less variation and the food was similar each night - however I am quite a fussy eater but still managed to find something I liked every night. The cocktails at the hotel bars were quite expensive and we ended up wishing we had paid to be all inclusive as most of our money went on our drinks.

The beach was beautiful and the weather was too. We were worried about the wind, but for the first few days you could barely feel it at all, with it being around 36 degrees each day. This meant that at night the heat was unbearable, especially as there was no air conditioning! After that the wind seemed to pick up a bit, but it wasn't unbearably windy, in fact it was nice to have a cool breeze.

The pool was also very nice, and was kept very clean. Although people did reserve sunbeds with their towels, we still never had a problem finding sunbeds ourselves.

With regards to the other tourists, there were a lot of German and Spanish people - in fact we were the only English people staying at the hotel. However the majority of the staff spoke English so this wasn't a problem and all of the entertainment/activities were translated into all 3 languages. The entertainment wasn't great, but there was still something different on each night which kept us amused.

The appartments themselves were spacious and clean, but the beds weren't particularly comfortable. We chose a seaview appartment and were given one with a beautiful view. However, there was not a lot of cooking equipment and we even found washing up a struggle!

The shops nearby were nice, but a lot of them were very similar, selling souvenirs etc, with very pushy shop owners. There was also go kart and quad bike hiring.

Overall, this resort is not great for people who are looking for a fantastic nightlife, but is excellent for people who want a relaxing holiday, with beautiful beaches, nice bars/restaurants and beautiful weather. I would definitely return to Jandia, even if it was to visit a different hotel.

Stayed here with a friend, both in our twenties. We wanted a cheap, relaxing sun holiday.

Advantages... Clean room with maid service 5 times a week. Pool area was cleaned every morning to a high standard along with the rest of hotel.
Good location- 5mins to lovely stretch of sandy beach which seems to go for miles. Also less than 5mins to bars, shops and restaurants. However, more tacky souvenier/t-shirt shops than necessary! More bars would be better.

Disadvantages.... NO AIR CON at all (which is very necessary in the middle of Aug! This made sleeping extremely difficult) Do not stay here if you require air con- u will be extremely uncomfortable!!!
Food- edible...just about! limited selection but wasnt expecting great cuisine anyway as it is a 3* (at a push) Would recommend going self catering as there seemed to be a few decent restaurants nearby.
Entertainment wasnt up to much (unless you're a german 6yr old child!) but this didnt bother us as we went out each evening to a cocktail bar after dinner. Not much nightlife going on around here.
The hotel/resort caters mainly for German and Spanish families, not many English about but it was quite nice not having the typical benidorm lager louts about the place to be honest!!
Staff not the friendliest but the same staff do seem to work non-stop every day so this is probably why, or the fact we were english?! One friendly lady on reception and one nice bar man!
We were allocated the furthest room away and had to carry our cases up endless ramps and steps. No one offered to help and several hotel staff just walked past us....lovely!!

Overall, you get what you pay for and we enjoyed our holiday(mainly because it was 30*c and in need of a rest) but wouldnt stay here again. It is very basic and if you are happy with that then stay here. However, if you are looking for 'that little something extra', maybe choose to stay at the RIU next door...

We visited the restaurant one time, - and it was one too much. The appartment was nice and clean, and the staff was very polite. W had booked a flat wit a view to the sea, but it was situated with the terrasse facing a 4-track road and a carwashing establishment and a 7-stock hotel as a neighbour.. Ekstremely noisy..
And the bedroom window side had the "pleasure" of the screaming and noise from the squash lanes, - and the were open from early morning until late in the evening..
