We are a family of five from the UK with two boys (8 and 4) and a 12 month old baby girl. German, the owner, answered all of our questions before arrival and all our special requests were met.
On arrival we were met by Alex and Maria at the property. We arrived 30 minutes early and they were still cleaning and preparing the apartment but we were happy to grab a drink at the nearby bar and Alex called when he was finished. Whilst Alex spoke very little English (and I speak very little Spanish) we managed to communicate very well in our own way, albeit with some creativity, and we were overall very happy with the check-in experience.
The apartment is well furnished and quite large compared to most holiday lets. It has three large bedrooms, two large bathrooms (including jacuzzi bath), a large hallway, kitchen, utility room and a large living room with sea views from two large patio doors. Outside is a large terrace/balcony with views over the pool, gardens and Cala Crancs beach.
There is direct access to Cala Crancs beach via two steep paths or you can walk the five minutes along the road. The beach is one of the best in the Salou area, busy in high season but not too crowded. There are toilets and a nice beach bar. It’s a great beach for kids to swim and has some pretty decent snorkelling around the cove.
The pool is usually quiet throughout the day. It is large enough and deep enough for the kids to dive, swim and splash about for hours. It doesn’t really have a shallow end though - about 1.2m at one end and 2m at the other - so our 4 year old preferred to wear arm bands (even though he could swim the width unaided). The pool is surrounded by grass to sit on and there were inflatables and a parasol in the apartment to use.
The local area is fairly quiet, made up of apartments rather than hotels. There is a supermarket 5 minutes up the hill and a small cafe bar. 15 minutes walk away in the centre of Cap Salou there are 8-10 bars and restaurants, a couple of supermarkets, souvenirs and a travel/excursion book my office.
In the main area you will meet British, Irish, German, Russian, French and Spanish tourists. The restaurants tend to cater for the typical ‘costas’ mass market so you will see fish fingers, burgers, curries and pizza alongside paella and tapas. However, they’re all ok and the staff are really helpful. The exception to the rule is La Piazza which is a genuine Italian restaurant. I would recommend a visit.
Overall, we had a great time in Cap Salou and we would definitely recommend staying at this fantastic apartment.
Lovely family apartment with excellent views and pool/beach on your door step and absolutely everything you need. Local supermarket 5 min walk with the main area with restaurants/bars etc 15 min walk. Slightly hilly but no problem if you can walk. The apartment was very well catered for and the owner's communication via email was excellent. Aqua park was only 15 mins on the bus and if you keep your wrist-band you can get free entry if you go back within a week. We had a lovely time with a pooland lovely cove and beach in our back garden, there was a nice little beach bar here also, the water was lovely and clear.
Spacious apartment, well positioned overlooking Cala Cranc. Pool was very good for the children and quiet. 5 minutes walk to several restaurants and 2 minutes to a supermarket and a couple of bars.
Wifi was good which kept the children happy.
Would definitely rent again.
