I have been coming to this winery annually for a number of years. When I first started visiting, the entire winery consisted of a metal building. Today the wine tasting room is impressive, and the new buildings which have been added certainly let you know that you are visiting a top-notch winery. The thing I really like about this place is its emphasis on Texas grapes. On my most recent visit, the clerk who assisted me was Madison and she was quite knowledgeable about the Texas-grown grapes & the various wines produced from them. I have visited wineries in many other parts of the country, including Napa. If you enjoy trying wine from different regions then you will enjoy this place. Some of the wines may be tasted for free and others require a slight charge. I will be back and suggest this as a place to visit.

Wines had character at an economical price. The building was architecturally beautiful. They had a very nice selection of wine related gifts, snacks, and appetizers. The clerk was extremely friendly but not well informed.

We love their wine! We even joined the wine club. They have wine release parties quarterly and they are fun to attend. Free wine samples, food and music. This is our favorite winery in Lubbock. We have never done the tour.

The new tasting room and visitor center has greatly increased the "class" factor for Llano Estacado, since we first visited ten years ago and have been about every other year since. A couple things have changed; the tastings are now complimentary (for the wines you can get at many liquor and grocery stores), $5 for selected wines, to $10 for Reserve wines. Choose 5 from the categories you select, and the server pours AND explains the wines to you (if you're interested). As oenophiles, we were definitely interested in where the wine comes from, the story behind the vintage. Bonus: Llano trains its servers well, and/or they are also oenophiles. Very knowledgeable, and fired up about the wines offered. This is refreshing, since at too many places the staff aren't particularly knowledgeable. "What grapes are in this blend?" "Uhhhh... Red?" Not at Llano every time we've been there. Two of us tasting, we shared them from different categories. The server then opted to pour an extra for us, Rubino, their 40-year anniversary Montepulciano, pricy but worth it. Only issue: they were not pouring Viviano, their Super Tuscan red blend which is truly excellent; they were out of it. Llano has wines for every taste, but it's good to see they have serious, well-priced wines that compete globally.
