CapRock Winery has a few good varietals of wine. The oaked versions are much more palatable than the ones fermented in stainless steel. There’s something about white grapes grown in high PH soils then fermented in steel that makes it taste like I’m licking my kitchen sink.
They’re a little pricey for Texas wine, but a good diversion while in Lubbock. The master sommelier on site was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the wines his staff was selling.
I bought a bottle of Zinfandel to share with my favorite person.

Friends & family visit to Lubbock & we thought a winery visit would be fun! Beautiful place to visit! We were there mid day on a Friday & just about had the place to ourselves which was nice! The fella behind the counter was knowledgeable & very friendly! Have already recommended this place to other family members!

The place is so pretty, at the entrance the doors are super big like something out of a movie. The staff is very friendly and you can try up to 10 different wines for about a buck. But i felt bad they just could find my pallet!

We have been to Cap*Rock several times, and while its venue is excellent, their wines tend to be hit-or-miss. Not bad, but maybe they're paying for the nice building? A couple we tried were just OK. When we came in from Woodrow Rd. we wondered if it was even open. The zinfandel is worth the price, as is their roussane (excellent vintage and well-crafted). Comment, and this has been a trend at Cap*Rock: less-than-knowledgeable servers. The young lady pouring for us was quite "in the dark" about anything that had to do with the wines, and while she was quite new, in this business it's vital that the servers understand their product.
