We stayed one night and did enjoy our stay. It is quite expensive - hence only one night. We arrived early, but we were allowed in to our room since it had been cleaned already. The room was clean, well stocked and well decorated - felt like TX. The toiletries had a heavenly orange scent. We swam in the pool which was a perfect temperature (not too warm, not too cold) and clean. The wine and appetizers in the evening was a nice touch. Get there on time to make sure you get some. We walked into town which is only a few blocks away. The town is cute with a center courthouse and quaint shops all around. Warning: the town shuts down early on a Sunday night so be prepared with your dinner plans. We brought our own wine for a nice evening of drinking and enjoying the view back at the inn. We really enjoyed sitting outside all evening and into the night on the hilltop overlooking the lake. The view is nice, but know that you will still see modern society - this isn't a wilderness isolated setting. It was July 3 on our stay, so we were able to see many different firework shows . The place is quite nice for a short escape, but I agree with others - I have stayed in many B&Bs with much more to offer for the price.

We are glad this guest stayed with us and appreciate they chose our Inn for their getaway- we are surprised though when guests write reviews almost a year after their stay. We also appreciate all the nice things this guest said about our inn. We have beautiful live oak trees on the bluff overlooking the lake, and a relaxing swing underneath. Our complimentary appetizers and wine every afternoon is from 5:15pm to 6:30pm and check-in starts at 3pm. The differentiated value we offer our guests is reflected in the fact we completely gutted and renovated the entire property in 2005 and 2009 and added in steam showers, heated bathroom floors, balconies and porches with lakeviews, large sitting areas in our new suites, and a saltwater pool with waterfall. We created a cross between a small boutique hotel and an Inn and retreat (less like a B&B). The many excellent guest reviews we have received also attest to the personal concierge service we offer, the upscale bedding and bath amenities, and the rejuvenation guests tell us they feel when they are here and when they leave the Inn following their stay.

This inn's location is beautifully set, surroundings are serene and inviting.
Both owners are gracefu in service to you - including beautiful, delicious breakfast daily.
The rooms are spacious, and provide a room away from home.
Thanks to the hospitality of the owners serving their guests.

PS: For us, this was a restful time as we had faced the loss of loved ones this past year.

At the Inn on Lake Granbury, you find the charm of a bed and breakfast with the luxury and amenities of a high-dollar hotel! I didn't know a place like that existed, really. I cannot say enough about our stay except that I wish it had been a longer one. Can't wait to go back! We were greeted by the innkeepers, Jim and Cathy, who gave us a tour of the place and then taken to our room. The main thing I was struck by was the cleanliness of every single surface! And the decorating is flawless, as well. The bedrooms are beautiful, the bathrooms amazing, and even the sheets were luxurious!!! I can't complain about a single thing -- Jim and Cathy are amazing and have gone the extra mile to make their Inn a special place and it shows.

My husband and I wanted a night away. We live in Fort Worth and had heard that the Inn on Lake Granbury was THE bed and breakfasts to go to. One of the best and well worth the money. So, I talked my husband into spending $275 total for the room, Texas Star. We were greeted and given about a brief 3 minute tour of the Inn. We were told that appetizers and beverages and wine would be served in early evening. So, we got settled in our room so we could take advantage that. It was a nice room - inviting, extremely clean, well-decorated. The bathroom was nice, but I was a little disappointed - the website boasted this room had shower with body jets - let's just say I wouldn't call them "jets" more like "misters". Also the tub was large and clean, however, three of the jets did not work. The bed's linens were very nice, but the bed was a little too soft for me - I sunk into the bed a bit. They were very generous with their soaps, shampoos, lotions, shaving kit, feminine products, and a hair dryer. The fireplace was a nice touch and even though it was 70 outside I still turned it on! :) The room did not have a view of the lake, just the street and parking lot. The dvd selection at the hotel was minimal and not the greatest choices. We ended up going to the local Walmart to rent a movie. But, it was nice having a dvd player in the room.

Around 6 we went downstairs for the snack and wine. There were 2 empty wine bottles, a few grapes, some cheese slices, chex mix, and cheese puffs. Needless to say, we were quite disappointed with the "appetizers and beverages" portion of our stay. However, the owner did eventually come by and restock the wine. I just thought for $275 a night we would get a little more than chex mix and cheese balls with our beverage. However, we excused it because we were really excited about the much talked about breakfast that was so highly praised on the website.

We walked the grounds, the pool was closed because it was a little cool outside and overcast to be swimming. The views are of Lake Granbury - which is lacking to say the least, but we have been to Lake Granbury before and kind-of already new the views would not be spectacular. The lake is muddy, dirty, and the views also included some fast food signs.
While walking the grounds we ran into the hot tub. It was covered and not very inviting. We decided to then walk the square which is walking distance from the Inn which was so convenient and nice. The square has little shops. My husband was bored about 5 minutes into it, but I enjoyed walking around and looking through the antiques, clothes, and knick knacks - definitely would be fun for a girl's trip. We went to Miyako sushi restaurant, which was very popular that night and it was also very tasty, especially for sushi in Granbury!

The next morning went down to breakfast at 9:15 am. At the buffet was oven-baked bacon, hominy and bell pepper casserole, scrambled eggs, a very sweet casserole with bread and walnuts, and potatoes. It was all good, but I guess I was just expecting something absolutely spectacular. Again, we had paid a good amount for one night and one breakfast, so personally I was disappointed.

Every review I read sang such high praises about this B&B. My expectations were set so incredibly high. I think the reviews set me up for disappointment. To me, it was far from a "wow!" experience for me, nor did it "set the bar high". We met a nice couple here who were avid bed and breakfast fans, they had been all over the U.S. We asked them what their thoughts were and how it compared and they said, "Honestly, this place is incredibly expensive for the view you get. Yes, the rooms are nice, but we have been to so many incredible places for cheaper that have what this inn has and a lot more."

The owners were nice and the rooms were nicely decorated, but I hate to say this, we will not be going here again. Definitely just a one time thing. Sorry, but I think many are reviewing this place way too high. I can think of a lot better places to stay for a romantic anniversary getaway.

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the lake and that has a private entrance.

We are glad this guest came and stayed with us. We are always glad too when guests share their experiences. We have been fortunate to receive over 95% excellent or very good reviews over the past six years. We tell our guests we serve appetizers and wine starting at 5:15pm until 6:30pm when we check them in, and provide recommendations for dinner when we take them to their rooms. We chose a body jet type for the showers that doesn’t pulverize guests with water, and instead provides a relaxing experience for tired muscles. Our beds have a luxurious pillowtop on top of the mattress to provide extra comfort and we receive many compliments on how much our guests like the beds (many have in turn bought the same pillowtops and mattresses). We always hope too that guests will tell us during their stay if something is not working, since in many instances we can fix issues while they are still here. We are sorry some of tub jets were not working for this guest. All the tub jets are now working.

The Texas Star room does not have a lakeview - many guests like the warmth of the terra cotta colors and the fact they have a two person jetted tub and stone fireplace. The appetizer and wine hour we offer includes cheeses, grapes, and sometimes bruschetta, always fine wines from our Wine Shoppe on the Square, smoked salmon on occasion, and a variety of gourmet dips etc. There are times when we might be checking other guests into their rooms during “happy hour” and the appetizers and wine dwindle down from time to time, especially on busy weekends. We always do our best to check in multiple times and replenish them up to 6:30pm, and many of our guests tell us how much they appreciate this attentiveness. We don’t offer cheese balls or chex mix for appetizers – snacks of this type in containers on the counter in the common area are there all day long for guests to enjoy. When guests walk the grounds they typically enjoy sitting on the swing to enjoy the lake or relax around the porches or pool.

The pool and deck with lounge chairs is open year round (never closed) and many guests have enjoyed it already this year. The outdoor hut tub on the bluff overlooking the lake is covered so as to keep heat from escaping, and keep the temperature constant for guests. Our breakfast is a five course breakfast and the “sweet casserole” mentioned in the review was chosen by one of leading DFW food critics as one of her “top 10 yummiest breakfast dishes in the Metroplex”. Often, our guests ask for recipes and appreciate that we offer a full, and hearty breakfast, along with upscale room and suite amenities like steam showers, heated bathroom floors, wet bars, lakeviews and a saltwater pool with rock waterfall. We appreciate comments too about the quality of our bath products.

We are grateful for all of the guests who have stayed with us so far, and the large percentage that come back to our Inn for another getaway.

Wow, the Inn on Lake Granbury comes through again. We stayed here once before on our 30th wedding anniversary and decided to stay again on our 34th wedding anniversary. If you're ever in Granbury and feel the need to stay in an upper crust establishment, you certainly can't go wrong here. This Inn has everything from well-appointed furnishings to great linens, great towels, even a great bath mat. And the breakfast they serve in the morning is heavenly. Fresh, tasty, five-star food. Great coffee, wonderful surroundings. I can't say enough. Stay here, it's worth every penny.
