... but it's as close as you're going to get in "rural Texas." The Granbury Opera House has been putting on quality shows for a zillion years. Located on the town square in Granbury, where there are also numerous interesting shops and several fine restaurants for pre-theater dining.

Have greatly enjoyed the performances of Texas Family Musicals. Unfortunately, they are departing Granbury Dec 24, 2011 due to declining tourism. Will travel to Grand Prairie to see their shows now!

We wanted to purchase seats in the balcony but were told the balcony wouldn't be open for the show. The show was good and the rows are inclined so you can see the stage from any seat. The layout of the rows is a bit inconvenient - they are long rows and everyone has to get up to let people in/out who are seated in the center of the rows. Since we couldn't sit in the balcony, we wanted to get the $25 seats but were told only the last two rows are $25 and there were no seats left in those rows. We used the ladies restroom during intermission. There were only 3 stalls - 1 was out of order and 1 had a lock that didn't work.

My husband and I enjoy the performances at Granbury Opera House. The energy level is always high and the actors possess a lot of talent. I took my mother last time and she was extremely impressed with the show. Always a lot of fun and we never have to worry about any bad language to embarrass us in front of friends or parents.
