We had reservations for 2 nights in July.. The Galvestonian called and cancelled due to no power as a result of Hurricane Beryl. It has been almost 4 weeks, and we are still waiting to be reimbursed for one half of our prepayment. They have used different excuses.
This used to be our "go to" place to stay in Galveston, but I wouldn't recommend it anymore. If your plans change, you may never get your money back.
1022dlb, We are glad the Galvestonian was/is Your Go To Place. Unfortunately, in the event of an emergency, like a hurricane, there are things that happen beyond our control. The Galvestonian processed the reimbursement timely. The circumstances of the hurricane and the delay from the processing companies, both on our side and yours, caused the delay due to the number of refunds being processed, not only by the G, but by others as well. Thank you for your comments, but truly they are unfounded. Thanks.
We have stayed at the Galvestonian multiple times over the years. We have always had a good experience. We find the location conveniently away from the touristy crowds. It has great amenities. It is our family favorite spot. I would recommend giving it a try!

For the price, we were not satisfied. It took us almost an hour to check in due to them losing some information. Then when getting to our room, there were fruit flies or some kind of bugs. When we asked for a new room, the front desk was very passive and not considerate, however our new room was fine. There is a lot of construction going on as well, so very noisy. We will not be returning.
Resort26006493033, thank you for your review. It sounds like you may have rented through a third party instead of directly with the Galvestonian. The G does not "lost some information" however, sometimes third-party reservations do not communicate when they book one of our condos, thus the confusion at check in. I am sorry your perception of the front desk was passive. Again, there is not much we can do when you book through a third party. We hope you give us another try. www.galvestonian.com
We come to Galveston several times a year for family trips. This has been the worst stay of anywhere we have ever stayed in Galveston. We will not be staying here again and we will not recommend it to anyone.
The biggest concern is the lack of communication. We chose a unit that had a washer and dryer pictured so we could laundry during our stay. There was a sign posted that both machines were broken and we were not told beforehand. Each time we asked the front desk we were told "We'll get back with you," but no one ever did.
The worst was the construction. We were staying for 2 full days. On the first day the construction noises in a unit above us were so loud, we couldn't stay in our room. We weren't told of construction happening or work times prior to our check in. We initially thought something was messed up in our unit and we're searching for something to turn off to stop the noise before we were told it was construction. They were working until 4:30. With 2 toddlers, nap is important mid-day and was not possible due to the noise. It completely ruined the day. A simple email prior to check in to let guests know of construction and times could have helped tons the planning of our day and the worry that something could be wrong.
When we asked the front desk and manager if we could switch rooms because of how loud the construction was, we were told "everyone everywhere is complaining of the noise." The noise could not be heard on the lobby or the second floor (we verified with several other guests staying across the second floor). They refused to let us change rooms and gave us the number to the general manager. We still have not heard back from the general manager.
We were told there would be no construction during our second day here. There was hammering in the unit above us that woke us up during our nap time.
If everyone would have just communicated and been honest, we could have resolved our problems and worked around the construction times. Instead we were pushed off to someone else, ignored, and lied to. What we had to deal with here is not worth it for any other positive amenities they may offer.

This is an excellent place to stay. It's away from the huge crowds of Galveston and is peaceful as well as beautiful! We have stayed here twice and have absolutely no complaints! Our condos have been clean and just as pictured. We rent directlyfrom their site and save the VRBO fees! The beach and pool areas are always clean. They have a very good staff, all the way from the front desk to the housekeepers. They are always kind and helpful.
