The movie inside the museum / gift shop building was fascinating. Definitely gave us a huge appreciation for the magnitude of work that went into Elissa's restoration. Really nice quality gifts available in the gift shop if you're willing to spend a little more money for something beyond the cheesy stereotype souvenir. Honestly, even if you don't want to see the ship, it's a good place to shop for gifts and souvenirs!

Really nice and completely staffed and maintained by volunteers. Alot of it is off limits to visitors but they were preparing to sail the vessel at the time. The museum is nice but a little small.

Though I have been to the Museum and seen the ship in dock, I had the opportunity through GHF to do a sailing on Easter for 5 hours out into the Gulf on a training cruise. Was a gorgeous day and were able to observe the crew and the youth crew perform and practice what they do with this Historic Ship. Am so looking forward to being in Galveston for the Parade of Tall Ships this week and participating in some of the events. This is a MUST for someone visiting Galveston. Very professional, educational and most enjoyable!

The Elissa is a steel hull tall sailing ship. There is a small maritime museum and a tour of the boat. Well worth the cost to see how an old sailing ship worked.

We like history. We drove a short drive from Kemah to Galveston. We enjoyed the seaport museum and the tour of the 1877 ELISA. We used the audio tour to walk the ship as it explained the various points of interest.

If you like history, check it out.
