Impressive aquarium and rainforest! We got through both in an afternoon. The rainforest was hot and had tiny mosquitoes so I would recommend to wear bug spray before you go for anyone who is normally a target The bites didn't leave welts or itch too badly, but it was an annoying distraction. We got a little lost in the rainforest but a beautiful bird led us to the exit. You can pet stingrays in the aquarium. It was a little hard to figure out what areas we hadn't seen in the aquarium, so take the free map they give you. Check out the mosaics in the restroom!

We visited for the Festival Lights and Da Vinci exhibition during Winter - our boys (6&9 yrs) were keen to return to see the Pyramids and other attractions. We had a whole day so decided to purchase the value pass with access to everything. We wasted a lot of time on arrival trying to work out what to do when - there were sign boards saying what movies were showing but not when. We found one very busy and super friendly lady at the information desk who was extremely patient in explaining everything (we had to wait 10 mins for her to finish with someone else). She must have to do this a zillion times over in a day, because it's not immediately obvious. If only they could have posted the times or give the brochure with that information at the ticket desk (we were given a map but not that)!
We had 2 movies included (one 3D and one 4D) ... 40 minutes waiting in line for one of them (movies was only 13 mins long!) and twenty mins for the other ... again more time wasted. We loved the rain forest pyramid, but kind of zipped through it in an effort to fit other activities in (will probably return to do that again), the aquarium was interesting but no wow factor (having been to others). The touch pool had one poor trapped starfish available for everyone to prod ... all others were way out of reach. The Discovery Museum was awesome, featuring a history of music exhibition - this area is totally hands on and where we spent most of our time. We had to drag the kids away to get to the other attractions. The boys were keen to do the ropes course - by the time we made our way over there, there was a 2 hour wait and not much to occupy anybody during the wait, so we passed on that. Also passed on the Paddlewheel boat - another long line.
The food court was disappointing and expensive for what you get, the usual bla choices of fried food, hot dogs etc. There's a fun gift shop with a lot of different items - had no money to spare after paying a small fortune for a family of 4 to get in.
I would advise not getting the value pass, but focusing on a few areas (for us that would be rain forest and discovery museum) plus 1-2 movies and enjoying them at a more leisurely pace. Also if you can go outside of school vacation time, that would be ideal! Sadly not possible for us.

Beautiful place. The aquarium and rain forest were gorgeous. Had a nice time on the paddle wheel boat, even though the wait to purchase something to drink was ridiculously long. Only one majorly HARD WORKING employee at the snack bar. Everyone had to stop and have their touristy photo taken before boarding the boat and at the aquarium. Can get a little annoying by the second photo op. Was a little disappointed that the line course/zip lines were closed. That attraction is only open on the weekends. I was looking forward to that, so kind of disappointed. The 3D and 4D movies were pretty good. All and all, my husband and I had a nice time.

We had a good time visiting Moody Gardens today when the winds and temperatures in Galveston made indoor activities more enjoyable! We visited the aquarium, rainforest, 3D and 4D theaters. The rainforest was the best attraction. They also had a lot of staff available throughout the attraction to help explain the animals and habitat. The aquarium was nice, but could use more staff to help direct you throughout the attraction. They have a lot of food options, but only had one open today. Crowds definitely supported having more open (given the long lines at the one concession).
