Nine of us stayed here for our yearly girls get away. The location was great. Right on Main Street but set back from the street. Nice kitchen, big dining room and nice living room with gas fireplace which we used the whole time. The only thing that was odd is the bathroom placement. Three bedrooms upstairs with one bath to share. (6 girls!!) The bathroom had an 8" step up which one of the girls slipped off of coming down & hit her eye & rib on step. Black swollen eye & cracked ribs!!! Downstairs one of the bedrooms had a bath in it but the other bath was out side this bedroom & no where near the other downstairs bedroom. Other than that, nice place!

I have stayed a this location 2 times on a girls trip. On both occasions, we rented the entire property. We had an excellent time. My only complaint is the breakfast.....sweet breakfast casseroles. They were delicious, but I prefer something more savory.

Marti, thank you for your review and comments. More importantly, your repeat business! In regards to the continental plus breakfast, my staff rotates several different items for the breakfast casseroles. We do have a more savory breakfast casserole that rotates in (guess you haven't had it yet). Next time you come back, please let us know and we'll be happy to make sure you get one of the non-sweet casseroles. Staff does a great job with that.

Thanks again,
Jeff

We stayed in Clara's Suite with three adults and two small kids (boys). There was PLENTY of room downstairs and upstairs and being a history buff I was happy to be there. The continental breakfast food provided was good and was more than enough for our two night stay. No complaints from anyone about the comfort of the beds and teh A/C works very well upstairs.

Having one bathroom was not that big of an issue for us, but I could see where some would see this as a drawback. The stairwell is not modern and is more narrow and angled than what most are used to. While our kids were super well behaved during our stay, there are many items around the place where I would cringe if they got near them. We did not spend a lot of time at the suite and used it mainly for a place to sleep. If we come back I believe we will try to get the Emily Suite next time since there is a kitchen. One of the other issues is the location next to a main thoroughfare/highway. The traffic noise was constant until later in the evening. Additionally, someone has decided to build a modern business building right on the western property line, and I mean literally ON the property line which has blocked the view of a portion of downtown. The location is perfect in regards to being close to the downtown shops, restaurants, and Nimitz Museum.

Im not sure this was the best option for a family with small children, However I would be willing to stay here with just my wife. We felt the Fredericksburg area had little to offer for smaller kids, minus going to Enchanted Rock or traveling to another area all together.

Thank you for your business and lots of great input! Yes, our neighbors are building right next to the property. It wasn't us but unfortunately we had little say in the matter. It does block some of the views but hopefully it will be completed very soon. There will be several retail shops and a small eating place as well. Progress sometimes in a booming small city is difficult but we have to look at it as a sign of a successful/vibrant community.

In regards to kids activities, there are additional things for kids depending on ages/interest/time of year. Some other ideas are the Nimitz Museum, Pioneer Museum, LBJ ranch & LBJ park (has swimming, fishing, hiking trails, several good playgrounds, etc.). From around Thanksgiving to early January there is also ice skating right downtown at Marketplatz. The Fredericksburg Visitor Center online is also a great resource for all things to do in town.

First the good stuff: very clean, comfortable beds, black-out shades, and the a/c worked swell. The kitchen was well equipped, and the breakfast cake in the refrigerator was to die for! The not so good: there was no place to sit, relax and visit. The "living room" had an old sofa and 3 straight back chairs - - no tv, and really not seating conducive to visiting after a day of touring local attractions and wineries. We ended up in the master bedroom with one of us on the bed and the other on a small sofa. There are good tvs in both bedrooms, but this wasn't the most comfortable environments for visiting and tv watching. If you rent the whole house, you won't have this problem. The location was convenient to the downtown.

Preface this review with the fact that we had another property reserved through Absolute Charm that was cancelled 2 weeks prior to our visit (out in the country with a full kitchen, 2 king beds, and a nice sitting porch. Since we were a group of 4 adults, accommodations at that late time were limited. Staying in town was not our first choice.

We stayed in Emily's suite for the weekend. Another group had the other portion of the house rented. The way that the house is divided makes no sense. We had a full kitchen, but no table. The other suite had a full dining room table with just a coffee bar setup. We are 2 couples that enjoy spending time together and like to play cards/dominoes in the late evenings, but we had no where to sit and do this.Thankfully we had nice weather and there was nice gas firepit outside where we spent both evenings enjoying ourselves. Had it been bad weather, we really didn't have any place to sit and visit comfortable.

There is also a piano in the other suite, which one of the guests began playing at 7:30 am on Saturday!! Noise from the other guests was an issue as others had mentioned.

The coffee cake that was left for our continental breakfast was wonderful, we really enjoyed it.

Jennifer, I'm sorry something happened with your other booking in the country. It seems like you really wanted to be in the country and obviously we are not.

Regardless, I want to thank you for your business and comments. I'll pass along the comments to my staff about the cake.

For future guests who stay just in Emily's Suite, we do have a two person table in the suite plus two bar stools as well. Just outside we have two patio tables under a covered area with outdoor fans as well. There's also a 6-person patio table outside as well near the gas firepit which was recently added.
