Trails aren't near what they used to be from I-45 to Bristol on FM 813 and 879. Some land owners have mowed down spent bluebonnets before they go to seed and each year seems to be less productive. September /October is when next year's crop comes up. Not seeing many seedlings, but recent rains might help.

If you're in the area durning blue bonnet season you definitely want to take the blue bonnet drive. It a beautiful country drive. Our family has gone every year since we moved into the area. It will be one of the things we will miss when we move. Make sure to stop and take some photos.

We were a week too late for the bluebonnets (our fault), but saw many other beautiful flowers along the trail, and even found a couple of great patches of bluebonnets. We are going back at the right time next year.

The average rating is simply due to the time of the month when we were able to go and the fact that this area of the state had an early Spring. We think the poor bluebonnet and paintbrush showing is simply due to an earlier than usual blooming season.
