This place is a great gem in the middle of Edinburg! If you like bird watching and learning about wetlands, you've come to the right place.

We loved the scenic views, they were all just beautiful. Kids got to enjoy the little stream and they loved it. They were able to see clearly thru the water. While walking along the clean and clear paths they got to see bugs, leaves, flowers, and birds. They absolutely loved the tree houses they have randomly around. The walking areas have spots where you are able to go and sit to take beautiful pictures.kids loved the peers and gazebos where they were able to get closer to the water. It's a really cool place to just walk and enjoy a stroll with your better half, kids, family, friends. We had a pleasant experience there.

The staff in the visitor's center is friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. As soon as you enter, you're greeted by the magical sounds of a soft, flowing natural-looking fountain and foliage. They have 2 lagoons (resacas) and a smaller one for viewing water fowl. There are walking paths with lots of plants. They have programs for schools to participate in and I've taken my students and my own biological children, as well.
One of them is an interactive, science-based hands-on program that introduced students to a world they have never encountered. They got to see water beetles, dragonflies, and pond critters galore, they got their hands wet and dirty macroinvertebrate collecting, water testing, and doing microscopic observations. They participated in an interactive Biology-based program that included macroinvertebrate surveying, microorganism sampling, a wetland walk, and water chemistry.
They have a wonderful and affordable line-up throughout the year. Fun for the whole family!

I recently moved here and went to their free film outside one night about the monarch butterfly migration through here on their way to Mexico. I returned during the day and walked the beautiful trails and photographed numerous butterflies. Many birds migrate here during the winter. They have a beautiful visitor center also with powerful scopes.
