“charming hotel.”
Reviewed 3 June 2012

Stayed 2 different nights and had 2 totally different rooms, each with wonderful character. Had to fax and copy and this was all free in the buisness center. So nice after paying at a more expensive hotel. Even internet is free.
They have a formal tea party (not sure how often) but it looked beautiful.
I would definitely recommend and stay again. You feel like you are set back 100 years in time which is how old it is.

The lobbies were beautiful. The room was pretty and comfortable. I could get used to to an all-marble bathroom. The magnifying mirror is nice. The TV was topnotch with good channel selection. The bed was supremely comfortable. The room has plenty of space and comes equipped with a safe and two luggage stands and plenty of drawers for those staying longer. Unusual for a downtown 4 star: in room wireless internet is free! While waiting for the valet to bring your car, if you stand around the corner of the lobby driveway, you can see the ramp into the parking lot and see an old-fashioned, continuously-moving open 'person-lift' that the valet drivers jump onto in order to ascend to the upper levels

The criticisms are minor, to be sure. If you arrive at check-in 'rush hour', you may find yourself in a traffic queue on Commerce Street; the circular driveway is ample at most times but a little small for peak periods. The beds are not heavy, but move a little bit. This allowed the bed next door to knock against the wall just a little bit, not bad. At the time of this writing, parking was $26/day, pretty standard for a downtown hotel; their valet service was quick.

This place smells like magnolias when you walk in the door! I mean honestly, the Queen stayed there! It's super nice.

Tips: The rooms on the 12 floor are huge. We had 4 people staying in the room and plenty of room (that's a first)
Also, there's no ice machines and the fridges are small so I'd bring a cooler and get ice from the bar on your way up the elevators.

Stayed here for a Memorial Day getaway at a great price, plus upgraded to an executive suite for a little more. If you like beautiful, old hotels, you can't beat the Adolphus. The public spaces are spectacular and beautifully maintained. Coffee in the lobby makes you feel like you're in Europe rather than downtown Dallas. The room was large, exceptionally clean and well-maintained, though the decor was somewhat dated. The towels, though soft, were old and kind of thread bare. Brunch in the Bistro was excellent and the service was good. All of the staff were friendly and professional.
