I had much higher expectations in Sun RV Resorts as we have recently visited 3 of their locations across the US. We had a 276 mile, Sunday arrival reservation and the office was closed! Nobody bothered to relay this. No welcome letter or instructions for us in the box. I called the #, left message.....nothing. Scoured my emails for a site # to place our home (travel trailer), found what looked to be a site # but didn’t dare drive ourselves into the one lane, jam-packed, go kart road if it wasn’t, so found it on foot and it was empty! Phew! Got in there and spent a good 15 minutes picking up a half a bag of butts, q tips, bottle caps and various old pieces of who knows ( photo) before we could sit outside on the severely cracked and uneven concrete pad and not feel completely surround by trash. The neighbors are cutting and banging on metal in the back of their truck, sparks flying (photo). Still no phone call back. Day 2: Officially checked in on Monday, with the employee casually telling me that no info was left for me because of a Mardi Gras party the night before. Oh, OK! The sign out front for a Super Bowl party is still up as is the freeze warning sign. Then I try to do laundry! So much time and energy spent trying to figure it out because the office doesn’t tell you! You buy a card in one building for $2, the machine only takes 5s & 10s. Had to go get cash out, to find all 4 washers in the closest laundry room full and stopped, then filthy and stinky (pet hair, wet underwear mildewing on top). We soon see that many here are long term if not permanent, a community mixed with travelers, a very non ideal place for those expecting a resort, a SUN resort! Next, we have the local teens walking through our site to get to a break in the wall behind us! Like a back door to this place, I could see a beaten path! The metal workshop at our neighbors continued throughout the week, I mentioned this to the desk clerk today, all the while the phone was ringing, he said as long as it’s quiet at 10 pm it’s okay, I also had to asked for laundry cash so I asked him if he wanted to answer the still-ringing phone first, he said “not really” and didn’t. I figured it did no good talk about the walk thrus or anything with this guy. The laziness and lack of pride in this place wreaks. It is undeserving of the name Sun RV Resort but certainly charges resort prices per night for the travelers. Also, no access to any actual lake, and it’s nearly under a major highway.
