This B&B is a bit of old world charm combined with the best breakfast in town. The owners are one of the nicest couples I’ve ever met. They are very helpful with information about Bastrop and it’s history. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

We had the BEST experience at this B&B. The room and location was perfect, the hosts were very accommodating, and they had great suggestions for what to do around the area. Breakfast was my favorite part as the hosts and other guests staying at the B&B (they were from Scotland) chatted with us over a delicious breakfast about our common obsession with Texas Country music scene! Could not have asked for a more pleasant stay!!!

This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast, and I loved it. The owners are a very nice couple who live just down the street and were willing to come help us check in late at night, with a smile. At least for a young man, stepping into the inn was like being transported a century into the past. It's a picturesque Victorian style home, and as an avid reader, the living/reading room was the highlight of my stay. There's also a patio through the kitchen, which was another great spot to sit and read or just unwind during the cool night. In fact, the entire lower floor was filled with great sitting spots. The owners ask you what time you would like your breakfast and what you would like to eat for it. Overall it was a very peaceful and relaxing experience.

Room Tip: Downstairs room is located nearest to the living/reading room with bookshelf and has it's own restroom, also near to patio

Our Pecan Street Inn visit was not as nice as other B&Bs that we have stayed at. This could be because of Bill's health issues and Shawn having to be out of town. Our room was not ready for us when we arrived, maintenance needed to be done on some things (for instance we had to lift up the door to our room to be able to close it), and some areas could have been cleaner. The bed was nice and the pecan waffle breakfast was good. The neighborhood roosters start crowing about an hour and a half before the sun comes up if you enjoy that kind of atmosphere. Urban sprawl from Austin means there are big box stores fairly close and this has impacted the stores in downtown Bastrop, there were a fair number of empty and closed buildings and one of the art galleries we were in was moving in a few weeks. There are quite a few highly rated restaurants close by.

We stayed in Bastrop one evening so I would do a run at the state park. We arrived and were told about First Fridays, where the businesses stay open late and art galleries can be viewed late. Shawn told us how to get to a family friendly restaurant, and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The TV in the room was small, but has Dish, and we were able to watch the Rockets playoff game.
The bed was comfortable enough, but our room was right near the. Stairs and we could hear every movement in the house. Someone came in at 3am, the train went by early in the morning. Heavy sleepers may not have an issue, but we didn't get much sleep in our room.
We couldn't have loved the little house and hosts more though, wonderful people and my kids and husband loved the homemade breakfast! We would go back. We will just bring earplugs. And Ambien.
