“Will not stay here again”

The Poolish Behavior property certainly does not live up to the pictures shown on-line. The property is definitely dated and in need of much maintenance. Most of the mattresses needed replacing , video games and equipment did not work, fireplace did not heat up in one bedroom, hot tub dirty (algae), smoke detectors on the walls without battery, pool area very “used”, roaches in bedrooms, kitchen major appliance literally falling apart. The maintenance staff did come and clean the hot tub, but that was the only issue that was addressed during my stay. I wished I had reviewed some of the reviews of this property before I drove 11 hrs from Florida, nothing has changed and my experience was exactly the same as the bad experiences noted, therefore nothing is likely to change in the future.

We have responded to your comments previously yet you feel the need to continue to malign this beautiful cabin. You complained that you had to wait for the cleaners to finish but you did not tell us that you were dissatisfied with the cleaning until 3 days later, the night before your check-out. It is bit unfair to demand refunds for cleaning issues after you have stayed in the cabin for 3 days. We cannot coach or show the cleaners their shortcoming when you have been living in the cabin. Your complaints would appear disingenuous to many considering the fact that you waited so long to bring them to our attention. The Christmas tree is a very nice touch that the owner of the cabin has installed to provide a warm holiday environment. Unfortunately it appears that there is little that we can do right in your eyes in spite of our best intentions.

“Fire the cleaning company”

My family and I have visited the Smokies annually for the past four years. Each year we rent a cabin for the gathering of between 15-20 family members. This year we chose Poolish Behavior, which is managed by Edencrest Vacations. The cabin has great views and has many amenities to keep everyone entertained.

After driving for 11 hours, we arrived at the cabin at around 5:15pm on our check-in date. We found that the cabin was still not ready. There was a person downstairs cleaning when we arrived. I spoke to Eden Crest on the phone and they said the cabin would be ready at 5:30pm. Since I was already at the cabin, I knew it would not be ready within 15 minutes so we decided to leave so the person cleaning would not feel pressured. I visited the Eden Crest Vacations rental office and spoke to Todd, who was not able to tell me exactly when the cabin would be ready but assured me that on Monday (we arrived on Friday) he would speak to management about the situation and see what kind of compensation could be offered. He suggested a few complimentary attraction tickets. He advised us to head back to the cabin as he thought it would be ready soon although he was unable to reach the cleaning company via telephone while I was there.

Our group decided to go to dinner instead of hover outside the cabin in the cold. When we did go back to the cabin we found that it was still not very clean. The oven was filthy inside and foil had been placed in the bottom (to cover the food spilled in the bottom I guess). When I turned the oven on the foil began to melt and stick to the burner inside the oven. There was also food debris in the bottom of the oven and pots that we're not clean inside the cabinets. The stainless steel appliances are dull as if the cleaning products being used are too abrasive. The microwave has a panel missing on the side and the keypad is pushed in. The broom provided looked as if it had a part down the middle and the pieces of straw were going out in two different directions. One of the bathtubs was plain dirty, the shower doors have mildew on them, and the outside of the showers near the floor is filthy.

On Monday morning the power went out (it was 32 degrees outside) and after 30 minutes I called Eden Crest. The rental agent gave me the number to the power company and said to call from the cabin phone so I could find out what was going on. It was only after I hung up the phone that I realized the cabin phone was cordless and would not work if there was no power. I tried to call Eden Crest back but there was a long hold period so we decided to go to the office (which is right down the street). In the meantime, my husband goes outside to check on the power issue and there is a guy from the power company outside the cabin. He informed us that the he arrived to check the meter and it was broken so the power had been turned off so they could replace the meter. He said it may take around two hours but it could be longer and there was really no way to be sure of exactly how long it would take.

We proceeded to the office to make Eden Crest aware of the situation and to address the issues from our check in date. When we arrived at office there were 3 people who appeared to be taking reservation calls at the desk. One person greeted me quietly and I asked her if I could speak to a manager. She told me to wait a second as she proceeded to answer another call. After her call she scurried around the office looking for someone to help me. Finally, she said that Hanna would be out to help me.

Hanna came out of the back office and I told her of the situation with the power and the check in issue and she apologized but said there is nothing they can do about either situation. She said that the check-in time of 4pm is not guaranteed and sometimes it is impossible to have the cabins ready by 4pm and have them cleaned to their standard (I don't know how you can have standards if there is no one checking the cabin for cleanliness between the time the cleaners leave and the guests arrive). I proceeded to inform her that the cabin was dirty and I showed her pictures. She offered to have the cleaners come back but at this point we were checking out the next day so it would be pointless. She began to mention the attraction tickets but I told her that we didn't plan to visit any attractions. Ultimately, she agreed to refund us $25 of the cleaning fee that we were charged (keep in my that the price for this cabin is over $500 per night).

After a few minutes of going back and forth and getting no where a woman came from the back and said "Could you guys just leave because I have overheard this conversation and it has not been productive". There were many times when Hanna said "I apologize" however, each one was followed by "but.....". We did not feel like we were valued as customers. Eden Crest refused to take responsibility for the cabin being dirty and stated "the cleaning company guarantees their work, not us". The problem was I wasn't renting from the cleaning company. Basically, we were told I'm sorry about your luck. All we wanted was some understanding and genuine empathy regarding the situation and we didn't get any. As a result, we will never visit an Eden Crest Vacations property again (and I am under the impression that no one in that office cares about that at all).

In reading the responses from Eden Crest Vacations related to the posts of other customers who were not satisfied, it is clear that they have no idea what the problem with their business really is. They appear to pick apart every complaint and list the justification as to why it happened. In reality, it doesn't matter why. What matters is how you made your guests feel and whether they would rent from you again. I will check back in 10 years to see if they are still in business because at this rate it would be of no surprise if the doors were closed. After all go these complaints you would think that the company would be attacking the cleaning company and not the guests.

Worst vacation I've ever had... Cabin was suppose to be ready at 4 we didn't get here till 5:30 cabin still wasn't ready, traveled 13 hrs... Finally get in the cabin at almost 8pm.. The cabin was dirty most appliances wasn't working.. Sooooooo we go down to the office horrible, horrible costumer service. They don't take accountability for anything they make an excuse for every problem even asked us to leave the office... What a professional staff.... Not! By far worst vacation my family has taken we come here every year but we definitely will not be dealing with Eden Crest ever again

We made several attempts to make amends with you but you kept making personal attacks against our employees and making demands that were Inappropriate. Yes I listened to you attack one of my employees personally when she was being very calm and considerate of you. It was only then that I asked you to leave. We are not punching bags and personally attacking someone who is attempting to deal with you in a professional manner is not something we have to endure.
You claim that the cabin was not cleaned to your satisfaction yet you waited 3 days before you made us aware of the cleaning issue. You also complained that the cleaners were not finished at 4PM so you had to wait on them. We would have sent the cleaners back to address any issues that you found in the cabin but after you lived in the cabin for 3 days it is impossible to determine what the cleaning issues were. You claim that the guest is always right and that no matter what they ask a company should comply with the demands regardless if they are reasonable or not. It is inappropriate for any customer to make such demands. Yes, we are human and can make mistakes but we will always make efforts to apologize and make amends. There seems to be a handful of individuals that think if they make unfounded or unreasonable allegations and demand reimbursement they can get something free. It has become a sport for some individuals. They make ridiculous demands for exorbitant refunds and threaten to bad mouth a company on the internet if they do not comply with the demands. We are an honest small business and we do the right thing by our guests but we cannot comply with unreasonable demands simply to avoid dealing with the truth. We get many compliments on our team for their friendliness and the cleanliness of the cabin. Yes, we can make mistakes and we cannot predict when something will break but we have a great team that is always fast to act on making things right for the guest. We have a 10 year track record of success because we care about our guests and deal with each one respectfully and honestly but clearly this requires dealing with people who are also honest about the circumstances.

“A good base for our activities”

We arrived with our extended family of kids, their spouses, and four grandchildren. Eden Crest called us when the house was ready to check-in, and we were able to arrive a little early. The home is large and very spacious, and everyone had plenty of privacy and room. The views were spectacular, and each porch had comfortable wooden gliders and rockers and in some cases tables and chairs. The swimming pool was quite small, but fine for the children or for small groups of adults. The temperature was fine. We did have a few minor negatives -- the pool table felt cover still had not been replaced as noted in an earlier review, likely due to the constant rental of this huge house. The video arcade games do not work, and someone had previously taken the Wii games so we could not enjoy that aspect with the kids. The gas grill had not been cleaned from the last guests, forcing us to abandon our traditional family cookout. Cabins of this sort tend to be noisy (both from internal noises such as people talking on the floor above you or the kids running around) but it's a wooden cabin, not a normal house with more internal insulation. The noise level was manageable, as was the noise from the adjoining property. The location is a short 10-minute drive to the Parkway and the attractions. The bedding was comfortable and clean. Plenty of hot water for showers and baths! We did not originally reserve this cabin, but were switched to it when our originally requested property with a home theater was sold to a new owner and taken off list of available rental properties. The Internet service in this cabin worked OK without any significant issues.

“Problems from beginning to end.”

3/8/14....I have rented cabins in the Gatlinburg area for more than 7 yrs. We go every spring break. This is the first time I had so many problems. They didn't take Amex. so the customer service rep ( name Billy) refer me to bill me later (a link on their website). I had never done that before and the rep did not assist me. He kept telling me to just follow the instructions and then call him back with the code I receive. So I called the rep back and gave him the info. He said that my cabin was reserved and sent me a reservation # via email. A few days later I received a voice message stating that my reservations will be canceled if I didn't call them back. Then I received an email canceling my reservations. So I call and the rep just said they did not receive my deposit. So after asking for a manager I finally spoke with David and then Richard. Richard apologies for the rep and said he should not have had me to go through bill me later. But he should have told me to set up a pay pal account (also link on their site). So that I could use my Amex. to pay deposit. He also said Billy had not been trained on that. So now I have a line of credit I don't need. Anyway Richard walked me through the pay pal process and I set up an account and he reserved the cabin again for me. Ok a few days after that I received another email canceling my reservations. I called Richard and he said he didn't know why that happened so he just reserved it again. This made me nervous so I would call periodically to make sure we still had our reservations because I had 25 people that were going to be staying in this cabin. Ok the day finally comes for our vacation we drove 8 hrs to Tn. making it there at 1pm. They called me about 2pm saying that the cabin was ready and we could check in before 4pm. So I went by the office to ask questions about the coupons they offered guest. They answered my questions and gave me directions and other info such as door key code, alarm code and internet password. We made it to cabin no problem. However the door code was not working. So I called the office and they said I have to press # first then the numbers. Question...why didn't they have that on the info they gave me. Ok finally we are in the cabin called Poolish Behavior. Nice cabin but maintenance needs to dust more. The kids were so excited about the pool but when we saw it it was half covered and half full of water. In the game area one of the games did not work and another one did not work properly. The pool table covering or want ever its called is old and needs to be replaced. The toilets in the bedrooms on the game room level backed up at times but didnt over flow thank God and at times the hot water ran out. I called maintenance shortly after entering the cabin about the pool and games at about a little before 4pm. They said they would send someone. Over an hour later I called and the rep said maintenance is gone for the day. They will come out the next day. So they came about 2 pm and said the pool is broken and they couldn't fix it. So I called the office to complain because that is the main reason we rented the cabin. Management offer us passes to go to another indoor pool that we would have to drive to. We were not interested in that offer to compensate us for the inconvenient. So I asked for additional passes to Wonder works. They agreed and said I could pick that up at Wonder works. Great at this point I'm satisfied. Well after the first night the hot tub no longer got hot. So I called for maintenance again and they came the next day and fixed it. Later the same day after returning to the cabin after a long day hiking and hanging out in Pigeon Forge we returned to our cabin about 10:30pm and could not get in. The code was not working. I called the office and Ashley said she didn't know why our code wasn't working any more. Because we wasn't checking out until the next day. So she gave me a different code and said it is only good for that night and that we need to hold the door open with something as we load our cars with our luggage on the next day. Because if we close it we will be locked out again. Checked out at 11am while men in a white truck waited on us. They said they were going in the cabin to do some work. We left drove 8 hrs back home. The next day I received a call from Eden Crest saying they are charging us $600.00 for the cover the goes on the
Jacuzzi. Richard said he already deducted $200.00 from our credit card but could not get the additional $400.00. He said because the cover was not put back on properly it blew off went down the mountain and was destroyed. I told him that was crazy and we did put the cover back on properly. I asked him to send me pictures and he said he would go to the property and check it out and that he would call me back. It was about 3:30pm. After not hearing from him I called back and was told he was not in and wouldn't be back until the next day and he would have to be the one to help me with my problem. The next morning I called and was told Richard wouldn't be in until after 2pm. I left a message for him to call me. As of now (3/14/14) 3pm I have not heard from Eden Crest. I contact my credit card company to tell them what happen and they tried to call Eden Crest but Richard was not available. So they told me that the charge is still pending but after it come through as a charge I could than disrupt it. I will never ever rent through Eden Crest again.
