Beautiful getaway 90 minutes from Melbourne - great mix of hikes and relaxation

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Dec 2024via mobile
We loved the location, the property, facilities, restaurants and staff. We did the Trawool reservoir walk which was a little challenging as very steep and quite rugged but wonderful. Also did 10km walk along the vic rail trail another day. Just stunning scenery Absolutely loved Trawool Estate. Loved spending time in the Herb garden and wild water restaurant and by the pool. Staff were amazing with special mention to Chis who is a real credit to the restaurant team with an always happy, friendly professional attitude and also Jason was very welcoming and lovely too. Have already recommended the Estate to family and we look forward to coming back.

Thankyou to all the staff at this venue who provided excellent customer service, from Nicki on our arrival, Chris who showed us through the venue and Rio in the restaurant.
We enjoyed our stay, the room we had was spacious with a view to the granite hills beyond. Watching the full moon rise above the hills was special.
The pool was at a perfect temperature, great for a hot afternoon after we had been for a walk on the rail trail.
Enjoying dinner whilst taking in the scenery was pleasant, food was tasty with good flavour combinations. The desserts were excellent.
Thankyou for an enjoyable stay.

Very Good Place for a wedding.

Need more acoustic treatment in the main area, they have some acoustic panels on the ceiling but needs more.

Also more staff when you have 120 guests.

they also need to look at the air conditioning when you have large numbers in the main room.

We arrived early and asked to change to a ground floor room (rooms 22-28 are next to the cycle trail and we were on bicycles). We were told they were fully booked - we found out later that this wasn't the case. Our room was upstairs facing the road with a sealed balcony window. The place has the feel of a resort with nice pool, grounds to walk in and includes a buffet breakfast if you've booked direct. Staff appear to follow a set of rules (eg. $20 charge for each hour when accessing the room early) and may not have agency to make their own decisions. Good facilities but atmosphere geared towards pre-booked groups rather than individuals.

Thanks for your review and the kind words about the grounds and facilities. There are many moving parts that go on behind the scenes to make sure all guests receive a great experience, so sometimes requests for room changes upon arrival or early arrivals need to be managed through our set processes. I can appreciate you felt you had different treatment, if your requests were not able to be met on this occasion. We hope you enjoyed the Great Victorian Rail Trail during your visit.

We stayed at Trawool for a little getaway and were blown away by the exceptional service and accomodation in general. As outdoorsy people we loved having the great Victorian trail run right outside which made for a great run, followed by a swim in the outdoor pool. We had dinner at Wild Water which was outstanding, and every table had a great view and although there were other tables we felt like we were the only people in there. Highly recommend, for both couples and families for a relaxing getaway so close to the city. Already planning another trip with friends.

Room tip: Thursday night was wonderfully quiet if you are looking for that kind of break.
