Our family held a private birthday function in one of the cosy and homely upstairs rooms.

Was a great venue with an open fire place, choices of lounge chairs and bar learners.

Bar and wait staff were very helpful.

We had a great night.

Good honest pub.

Thank Duphney

This was a real disappointment. We liked the atmosphere and the service was good. The first clue that all was not well in the food department was the waitress seemed to hesitate to recommend anything.
So I had the roast because how can you get that wrong right? Well they did. All the ingredients of the chicken roast was there but it was like they had been put together by someone who had never seen a roast. The chicken as dry and stringy and the gravy tasted weird.
My wife had the beef pie and it was no better, the meat was chewy and not well flavoured. The crab was almost without any crab inside it.
That said we ate everything... just felt very grumpy about it. Picked up some cheese, pate and bread... having more enjoyable meal with that at home.
There are too many good places to eat in Sydney to bother with this. Go there for a drink, but go somewhere else that is nice to eat.

This pub causes a cacophony of complaints due to the hysterical capacity for urban dwellers bad timings in sharing one of Sydney town's best pubs...especially wanting to enjoy their experiences at crucial sharing-times, like lunch on Sundays....bad mistake. Anyway, our experience was a sharing one too, albeit on a Wednesday for lunch. The interior is pure old-world pub with quiet nooks to curl up next to the fire. Service is fantastic, our food a medley of burgers and steaks were perfect and mighty tasty. the wines by the glass were pleasing as was the bottle of sticky-sweet sulturn. Lovely place to catch up with chums. Definitely one of Paddo's best pubs.

Came out of our way to try the Sunday roast on a recommendation of a friend. The place was busy so we expected good things. Took about 10 minutes to get served after the bar staff served 2 men waiting behind me. My wine came in a dirty glass covered in lipstick so had to take it back to swap it for yet another dirty one.. The bar staff were arrogant and rude, rushing people to "get your orders in or you won't be eating". I couldn't believe their attitude! They clearly hated their jobs and didn't want to be there.

So we waited 35 mins for our 2 roast dinners (fair enough for a busy Sunday). One meal came out missing a Yorkshire pudding and looked like a kids portion, was also cold. 10 minutes later mine came out and the missing Yorkshire pudding. We told the waitress that our first meal was below par and was cold, to which the waitress replied with no apology "fine I'll get your money back". She didn't offer a new meal because the kitchen was already closed. We said to the friendly waitress who brought the second lunch that we weren't going to stay so to take it away and she said no please just keep it as we've made it anyway. Turns out the second meal had gone to the wrong table so they owed us an apology. The other waitress then brought us a refund for only one meal, so she expected one of us to sit their and watch the other one of us eat. We said we wanted a full refund and didn't want to pay for any of it after the experience was ruined by the rude staff and the poor quality of the first meal. Next minute the 'manager' comes over and says "what's the problem then?" We explained the situation and he was in no way apologetic. "Do you want this meal or not then?" we said no thanks, we'd like our money back and we want to leave, as we'd told the 2 waitresses previous. He stormed off back to the bar and passed the extra $25 to us as he was walking past without even looking at us or saying sorry once.

This place needs new management, it's not surprising that the bar staff are rude and arrogant when they have him training them. Absolute shambles of a place I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
