We visit family in Sydney every year during the European winter and love Staying at Manly beach., For the last 7-8 years we have always booked our accommodation through Manly Beach Holiday & Executive Apartments as we have always found their apartments to be immaculate, well presented and nicely furnished, this is a family Business and the owners always make you feel welcome and nothing is ever a problem. There are many individually owned and holiday let apartments at the Waterside Building and most of these are not well maintained or cleaned to the same Standard. This we have discovered on many occasions when visiting other guests staying in the same building and they have all been amazed at the difference in the standard when visiting us in our apartment.

There are many horrific reviews written about the Waterside Building and without a doubt all these relate to the individually run apartments and offered on different websites.

Manly Beach Holiday & Executive Apartments accommodation at the Waterside Building is the only accredited and Star Rated Apartments and strongly recommend you only book through this company if you are wanting to staying at the Waterside Building Manly Beach

We stayed in the Waterside apartments twice - first time in December 2008. The first apartment was booked through Manly Beach Holidays. The apartment was basic but OK for the price, the main problem with the building was that there is a big aircon unit right by the bed in the bedroom which basically lets in all the noise from the street below. Although it's a pedestrian area it has benches and people tend to congregate there after spending an evening drinking and shout, swear, sing and argue most of the night. Hardly got any sleep but didn't feel the property was at fault, wasn't really looking forwrad to our return in January, but too expensive to cancel. The January booking was made through manly-seaside.com. We were hopeful it would be a bit quieter as it was on a higher floor. No such luck. Problems started with the parking space which was impossible to get into if there was a car parked in the bay next to it. Then we got to the apartment. What a dive. Doors smashed in, locks broken, hair in the bed. The fridge, microwave, cooker, cultery and floor all needed cleaning. Curtain rail coming off the wall, as was the towel rail, sofa had big burn patch on it and had clearly never been hoovered under the cushions. Half the lightbulbs were not working. Met 3 resident cockroaches before we decided that despite it being midnight we were not going to stay. Rang to advise agent and got full refund the next day - although they had had our $500 deposit for 6 months. Never been so disgusted with accommodation in my life. Avoid at all costs. See the photos if you need evidence.

We stayed here as a group of friends for 7 nights, so we had a lot of apartments to choose from, they all seem to be individually owned but managed by a leasing agent.

My wife, daughter and I had a 1 bedroom apartment located on the first floor, this was decorated to a reasonable standard and clean but the street noise was intolerable. There are seats just outside the bedroom window , where people sit and talk till 4am! Fri/Sat/Sun....unfortunately for us the pool was also being renovated 2 floors above us which started at 8am....others should benefit from a nice new pool area, but we hardly got any sleep.

Other friends had 3 x deluxe studio rooms located on the 4th floor. These are set back from the street and are definately the rooms to opt for. There is no street noise, are of a reasonable standard and are fair value for money. All of the rooms were clean and comforatble with large balconies and bbqs to
enjoy the Aussie sun.

One friend had a studio unit on the second floor, he said it was "okay" but I would personally opt for the deluxe studios.

Manly is an awesome place to experience Sydney from, just a 30 minute cruise to Circular Quay and a holiday/beachy feel to return to. The restaurants and night life in Manly are also great.

We booked using the same agent as the previous review and I would have no problem recommending a deluxe studio on the 4th floor but steer clear of the one bed units on the first floor.

Upon reading reviews about these apartments my partner & i were a bit apprehensive, but it was very cheap so we thought we would just give it a go.

I was pleasantly suprised when shown to my room, it was a large studio that was near new and it was furnished at a very high standard. I asked the apartment owner how there were such bad reviews and he informed that the building has many holiday apartments all individually owned. I would highly reccommend this apartment but make sure you book using the link below.

We stayed at the Waterside Apartments for 4 nights. The location is superb, with open air cafes, take-ways, souvenir and coffee shops right outside the door, and the beach half a block away. We had a nice balcony for out door meals including a BBQ.

This is one of the better priced apartments, but it's in need of a little updating. Our bed kept falling apart. The slats under the mattress kept falling off with the slightest movement. We were constantly reassembling it. The toilet would not turn off, so we had to turn off the water after every flush.

Overall, I thought this apartment was adequate for our needs on this trip. I was moving my daughter into her dorm for a study abroad. But, for a vacation/holiday there are many holiday apartments in the area with wonderful views and access to the ocean. Next time I'll look for something a little different.
