We had a weeks holiday in Tan y Coed at the start of the Summer Holidays and loved it. The cabin is beautifully furnished … very cosy and comfortable. My son said his bed "was like sleeping on a cloud" - what more can I say! We stayed during a very hot week so the shade of the cabin was welcome. The deck area has the most magnificent views and is private / not overlooked (apart from the sheep).
The communication we received from the owner from first interest through booking to our arrival was excellent - thank you James!
We loved our stay so much we're hoping to book again for next year!
We have just returned from spending eight nights at this wonderful chalet/cabin, overlooking a beautiful welsh valley.
It was well equiped with everything you could need to cater for youself, the one exception was a fan to cool the place down but as we visited during an unprecedented heatwave, I'm neither surprised or disappointed.
It's a lovely location with feilds of sheep below us and plenty of pasing birdlife. We saw at least one osprey, acouple of buzzards and several red kites. There were many other smaller birds but theywere alwaysto quick to identify.
The only real disturbance to the peace and quiet was the regular local trains, not too loud and the passing fighter aircraft going around The Mach Loop. Some of these were just a couple of hundred feet above the valley floor, a spectacular sight for somebody who loves aircraft spotting.
Tan Y Coed has been a great place to base ourselves as we showed our youngest son why we keep returning to Wales on holiday. He loved the place so much that he's already talking about when we can next visit and if we can base ourselves, once again at Tan Y Coed.
This was our second visit for a week's holiday - and we are already booked up for 2 weeks next year, so that should say something about how about how comfortable Tan Y Coed is.
We found the Cabin almost exactly as we found it last year. I wrote a very, very full review last year on 19 July 2017 so am not going to repeat it here, but you might want to look it up
I wish there was a way to give a 4.5 star rating because that is what I would give it if that was a choice! So, as I gave it 5 stars last year I am giving it 4 stars this year, to even it up a bit, but not because it has got worse!!
The thing I really wish it had, is a washing machine. As we were down for a week (and were travelling to and from Wales for a further 4 days), a washing machine would make this perfect. Hate having to hand wash at the best of times, but nowhere to really wash lightweight trousers or heavy cotton t-shirts except the kitchen sink. The launderette was open this year in Machynlleth but it wasn't last year - and we didn't find out that it was open until well into our holiday
The controls on the microwave are not as obvious to use as it might appear, so a bit of instruction would be handy. We still haven't worked out how to use the defrost function on it!! The cooker and oven are excellent though - and there are instructions on how to use it in a folder left by James
I would highly recommend Tan Y coed
Excellent stay, away from it all. Well equipped accommodation with real privacy but not isolated. Exactly as it appears in the photos.
