Sorry it has taken me a few weeks to put on this review.
We love this area of Pembrokeshire but have usually stayed in Solva. This time we thought we'd try somewhere closer to St Davids and we were so happy we chose Cariad (or sweetheart) cottage. We arrived desparately in need of relaxation and sea air and got just that!
The cottage had looked great in the pictures but is even better in reality. It is beautifully done out with wooden beams, exposed brickwork and tasteful decor..cosy, comfortable and well equipped. The sitting and dining room were upstairs and along with the balcony made the most of the views. It was pretty special sitting eating on the balcony drinking a glass of wine gazing out to sea. We loved the setting and being so close to the coastal.path and enjoyed walks to Solva, Porthclais and into St Davids. Carfai Bay is just a short walk away.
The hosts who are right next door could not have been more friendly and you felt nothing would have been too much trouble. We hope to return some day and would happily recommend.
The end of the farmhouse cottage with a view of the Pembrokeshire coast was just right for the two of us and our dog. Near enough to St Davids to walk in.
With a bathroom, bedroom and modern kitchen down stairs and a sitting room with a balcony big enough to dine on upstairs.
The 3 fields used for camping between the farmhouse and coastal worked well for giving our dog a run off the lead before being put on the lead on the coastal path.
All the rooms had been modernised and the kitchen had an easy to use induction cooker.
The main views are from the upstairs sitting room which also has stairs down to an outside area.
Rob and Christine were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.
As dog owners we took throws and covers for any sofas or beds which worked well for the cream sofas.
We hope to stay again. Highly recommend.
The cottage was an ideal base for exploring the coastal path. It was well equipped and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony. The hosts were very welcoming.
If you are reading this review, you have probably decided to go to Pembrokeshire, on holiday. That is your first correct decision. It is absolutely breathtaking! Now, you are wondering whether you should stay at Cariad Cottage. Well, the answer is YES! No more research required. If you want character, Cariad has it in spades. Oak beams and floors, comfortable furniture, and everything you need to live well.
The very best things, are your wonderfull hosts, Christine and Robert who will soon feel like neighbours of twenty years. They cant do enough for you. Joint top attribute, is location! I would pay, just to sit on the balcon in the evening abd stare out along the coast line, and to sea!
Favourite place to eat, is “Thirty Five”, in beautiful Solva. I had the seafood linguine, three nights in a row!
I also had a mornings fishing on,”Blue Shark”, where skipper, Pad and crewman, Cameron were top lads!
A great cottage in a lovely position just two fields from the coast path.
Lots of walking from the door :-)
