We have now stayed at this hotel on several occasions. It is very well located, adjacent to the M4 at the first junction after the Severn Bridge tolls. Newport is a 10 minute drive away, with Cardiff being approx 20 minutes. Good access to the Brecon Beacons.

The hotel itself is only a couple of years old - in fact everything still looks brand new. The property is well maintained, with the bedrooms kept exceptionally clean together with crisp white bedding. The bedrooms are a good size (Queen bed + large sofa and footstool) and come with a good TV (32'' LCD screen) and alarm / radio. Showers (no bath) are the biggest I've seen. Rooms have very effective (and not too noisy) air conditioning.

There is a small but very well equipped and maintained fitness room (treadmills, bikes. cross-trainer, weights.)

We have found all the staff to be welcoming and friendly.

Prices are normally excellent. Over several visits we have paid as little as £39 and a maximum of £54. Breakfast is included - good choice of cereals/breads etc, the hot items are a bit hit and miss, with the bacon normally good, but the sausages taste really cheap and nasty.

The only real downside is the relative isolation to any other hotel/pub/restaurant. The hotel offers a limited choice of evening meals, which will suffice if you are tired from a journey and don't want to get back out in the car (there's nothing within walking distance). The meals are filling, but are instant/convenience type offerings zapped via a combo microwave/grill. The alternative is to get back in the car and drive either into the village of Magor or better still head off to Caldicott, Chepstow, Newport or even Monmouth.

Room Tip: The large rooms and competitive prices mean that the hotel can fill up with large family groups at t...

stayed for one night with my husband and young son. lovely quiet hotel. the room was spacious, modern and spotless as were all of the communal areas. the young lady on reception was excellent, very friendly and even went out of her way to entertain my son with colouring whilst we were having a drink in the bar. breakfast was great, tasty and plenty of choice. very impressed with this hotel and would definately stay again.

Myself, wife and 7 yr old have just returned from a lovely 3 night stay at the Hampton. If anyone has stayed at the Hampton inns in America then you will know the high standard they set, this matched them in every way.clean.friendly staff good free breakfast and plenty of free parking. The room had a large double bed and a double sofa bed for my daughter, although this took up a fair mamount of space the room never felt cramped..both beds very comfy.Bathroom, large with walk in shower with despensors of shampoo and body wash, whilst sink area had handwash and moisturiser.Free breakfast with sausage, bacon, scrambled egg and beans.Toast mking machine with good range of jams etc, pastries 6 choices of cereals,a very good way to start the day.
Location - right by motorway,25mins to Bristol and 30 to Cardiff.Off the roundabout the otherway is a service area with W.H. Smiths and a mcDonalds.
2min drive brought you to the large Village of Magor with 2 nice dinning pubs, 1 Chineese takeaway and 3 Indian restaurants The Mango house is a real plus for any Curry lover.
Overall - A great quite hotel ( we never heard anyone else even though 45 cars in car park). With good local amenieties, Magor even had a small budgens supermarket.WE WILL BE Back !

We stopped at this hotel for one night on our way back to London form Carmarthen and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is easy to find once you get off junction 23a on the M4. The staff at reception are friendly and helpful. The double room is a very good size and includes a sofabed, tv, desk and chair, wired internet access point which is complimentary and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was very clean. Breakfast is quiet good and includes extras like yoghurt and croissants. There is even a gym in the hotel if you fancy a bit of workout. We decided to dine out and Magor is a short drive away and has 2 or 3 pubs that serve food. There is a budgens near one of the pubs, so although the hotel is in the middle of a business park, conveniences are not so far away. This hotel is very good and comfortable and a bargain for the price. We had a very good night sleep as the area is very quiet. I would stay there again.
