“A great location with views to match”
Reviewed 19 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We stayed at Ar Y Graig to celebrate my 60th birthday and were joined by my son, daughter, their respective halves and grandson for the first 4 days of our holiday. The accommodation catered for 7 people very comfortably and there was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The views are spectacular and there is direct access to the New Precipice walk which is worth the effort. Apart from bath towels, there is everything you need and we made good use of the logs and fire on one day when the electricity was cut-off due to planned maintenance (no fault of the owner). Dolgellau is a charming town just 4 miles away with a Co-op supermaket. We hired bikes at Dolgellau and cycled to Barmouth along the Mawddach estuary. We return via the Cregennan Lakes situated on the northern slopes of Cader ldris, some 800 ft above sea level. A tough bike climb with the reward of beautiful scenery and a free wheel back to Dolgellau. I also recommend the white water rafting near Bala, Mawddach Restaurant just 5 mins away and Portmeirion (local for the Prisoner TV series). The only slight negative feedback i have given to the owner, is to consider replacing the double mattress in the upstairs room (with one single bed) which we found a little uncomfortable. Other than that, we had a superb time.

“Simply perfect”
Reviewed 20 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Long weekend break at this property for my family and friends. The accommodation suited us perfectly, it was set in the most beautiful scenery, and only a short walk from a quaint pub/Hotel which served excellent food. We climbed Snowdon on the Saturday, which was a 50 min drive through some breathtaking countryside. Then on the Sunday we found the awesome Blue Lagoon, a visit which we highly recommend, had a stroll along the clean, sandy beach, lunch at Barmouth, trip to waterfalls. There is so much to do here, it looks like we will need another trip! We were blessed with the most beautiful weather also.

“Amazing views over the estuary”

We rented this house for a few days in late October to celebrate my brother's 40th birthday - so the range of ages covered from a baby through to teenagers and grandparents. Joy provided all the information and advice we required and was incredibly helpful with any questions. The views are stunning over the estuary and the house provided everything we needed. We especially like the 'hide and seek' garden and the gate which led through to a walk in the woods. Being able to bring our dogs along was a real treat. The house was also well located for walks on the beach at Barmouth, and for exploring the estuary. A keen birdwatcher, my dad could even set up his telescope on the patio!

Sorry for my delay in reviewing - we've just moved house - but I was keen to make sure I added my review eventually.

So glad you enjoyed your stay and I agree, the place and area does have something for everyone. There is now a big new surf wave machine built nearby so even more the teenagers to try next time!

I am glad you worked out the bus stop at the end of the lane.- not too far away although it is uphill on the way back! and yes a torch is a very good idea out there. Portmerion is stunning at any time of year and only about a tenner for entry -you can easily spend a lazy day there. We would love to have you stay again.

Reviewed 24 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We had a great time in a wonderful house.

The property was great, beautiful views, spacious rooms and the facilities were spot on.

I will be looking at a family holiday there next year sometime.
