The food is so yummy. But I find it hard to talk to staff their and also find it a bit expensive at times.

Fancied a coffee and pie after a five hour drive and thought Gerrard looked like a nice old fashioned bakery what can go wrong? The place was busy and managed to find a cramped table and thought this would be OK. Bought two cheese and onion pasties and two coffees and for £9+ thought this would be nice. When the coffee arrived my wife' white coffee was like watered down milk. I had an Americano and can only guess that they had put the coffee in the hopper that morning and had served the whole cafe using the same coffee grounds.Needless to say will not be going back.
Staff very unfriendly, not very patient when you are deciding what to choose. It was obvious regular customers come first. Found the place quite untidy and a rather squashed table to sit on. Would definitely not go there again.
I've been to Gerrards - numerous times but have finally given up. They do the best toasted teacakes and some nice cakes - though average. The staff are polite but some can be heard chatting away on quiet days and about things you just don't want to hear. It is not a place to go for a meal. It has to be the unhealthiest place I've gone. I really do appreciate its history and the fact it's primarily a bakery, but I've never been to a tea room/bakery/cafe like it. Even greasy spoons have salad options or as sides. There are no vegetables allowed either and no fruit - apart from in a cake. The chips are thinner than MacDonalds and therefore the unhealthiest you can get. No matter how many times I've asked is there any form of salad - a tomato even, vegetables with the chips and pies etc - the answer is always no. The food is fatty, greasy and I just don't want to eat there again. The floor feels sticky and not especially clean. I will buy a tea cake but that's it. If you want high cholesterol, or if you want to just have a cup of tea and a cake as a treat then Gerrards is perfect - just not for a meal.
