I love this place. We've been coming to the Royal Oak for years now to eat and drink, as we stay in a house just over the road on our holidays. My husband has also stayed in one of the rooms and was very impressed (and said the breakfast was excellent)
There's always a friendly face behind the bar to serve you either a very tasty ale or cider (you must try 'Happy Daze' cider) and if you're eating, get Chris to make one of his famous super dooper burgers in a charcoal bun with mac and cheese and all the trimmings - superb. Great chips too (no oven chip rubbish)
The pub itself is charming. If it's cold outside then there's an open fire burning away to cosy up to on the inside. If it's warm outside, they have a nice beer garden or tables out the front overlooking the fantastic view. Not to be missed.
Oh and there's a little shop attached to the pub for essentials and icecream and some local homemade bits and bobs.

We stayed and ate at the pub for 2 nights, and both the food and service were excellent and good value! It was great to see a range of vegetarian starters and mains (not the usual choice of just 2!), and to be offered a vegan option (not shown on the main menu) when I mentioned my allergies. The chef was really accommodating with making changes to the food we ordered, and the generous portions were much needed after a day hiking around the hills! The landlord and staff were really friendly and kept us well supplied throughout our stay :)

Three of us visited the pub for an evening meal and sat next to the open fire. The pub is charming and the food was excellent. The owner was lovely and made us feel like old friends. We have a local Holiday Home and will continue to recommend this as a venue to all our guests. You do need transport to get there though!

Brilliant country Pub. We had three lovely meals and a great night’s stay. Venison cottage pie and triple cooked chips were dinner highlights. Lovely beers and a quality breakfast. Highly recommend.

My husband and I, along with our fifteen year old twins and dog have just returned from a wonderful two night stay at The Royal Oak Inn and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect break. We were impressed with every detail of our stay, from the communication via email before arrival, the clean, comfortable rooms, the very accommodating and attentive landlord, the super friendly locals and the most delicious cooked breakfast. We spent our days exploring the beautiful Welsh countryside and our evenings in the cosy pub bar, enjoying the open fire and the wonderful home cooked food. Particular menu recommendations from us are the squid starter, pesto salmon and house burger mains and the cherry crumble for dessert (although the specials pancakes on Shrove Tuesday were a big hit too!). It's great to find a 'dog friendly' place that truly is what it claims to be; we always felt that Maggie was welcome and a separate side entrance meant we could come and go with her without always needing to walk through the pub. If you're looking for value for money and a memorable experience of rural Wales, then The Royal Oak would be an ideal choice; we could find no fault and certainly intend to return at some point.

Thank Kate H
