After traveling to Mississippi we decided to treat ourselves to a few nights at the Peabody before flying home. Beale street was a blast. Great music food and atmosphere everywhere, which was great, but we always like to go off the beaten path when on the road. I asked one of the hotel workers for a suggestion for soul food. "Where do "you" go for great food?" Without hesitation he told us Marmalade was where we should go. A bit away from the glitz of Beale street, and seemed to be mostly locals dining there.
The okra was heaven, as was everything else on the menu. What else can one say really, if you like soul food, take some time away from Beale street and do not give this one a miss when in Memphis.
