Description: Established in 2002. "Look Good. Eat Good." are the words emblazoned on the front windows at the Beauty Shop. This hip and trendy restaurant in the Cooper-Young district of midtown Memphis does both, as it conjures up images of a '50s-style beauty shop, formerly Priscilla Presley's curl-and-dye spot. It's a camp wonderland where the façade is Jetsons-era Vitrolite, and choice seating is offered beneath hooded Belvedere hair dryers. Nostalgia is served with a sense of humor here. The beauty shop flashback comes complete with original mint green wash basins filling in as sinks behind the hand built bar, made of tiger maple wood. The terrazzo floor is original. Glass brick stalls serve as intimate booths. Mixed with the retro renderings are modern touches such as hand-blown art-glass lights, and glamorous copper and silver-leaf walls. At this offbeat restaurant, the décor pays homage to the space's beauty parlor past, while the food offers flavors from around the globe.

We ate at The Beauty Shop for Sunday brunch and would highly recommend this restaurant. Try the mimosas: we got both the orange and grapefruit, which were both very fresh! Food is delicious. The decor was really quite cool: the hair dryer above my chair still worked! Parking is free on the street on Sunday.

Loved the restaurant. Truly designed using old beauty shop. Unique.
Food was good. Crispy calamari and shrimp a la Plancha with grilled avocado. Not busy but we ate early, 330 or 4 pm.

We almost turned back on the way to this restaurant, had to go through a few really sketchy neighborhoods. Once there it was all good though, you can pay to park right next door or park for free on the street. The building has some history and of course it used to be a hair salon, few neat photo ops with hair dryers. The food was very good and nicely plated. Great appetizers and unique main dishes. Not a cheap place, but worth the money.

Everyone was delighted with their food choices for the festive bridal luncheon Entrees range from unusual small plates of parm fries w/truffles to more substantial banana pancakes with maple syrup. The BLT sandwich is humongous and delicious with loads of bacon and avocado. Waiter suggested the fish tacos are also a big hit. Drinks are generous in size and the juice is freshly squeezed. The Beauty Shop has kitchy vibe with hair drying stations (think the 60's bee hive helmets and cushy seats where women perched for hours getting their "up-do" ) doing double duty as restaurant chairs and backdrop fixtures. A great perch for catching up with the girls! I'll be back.

I can't say much more than ... wow .... but I will ... so you know how awesome this place is!!

Wanted to find a nice brunch spot to take in-laws to after Church on Sunday ... we were visiting Memphis from Toronto ... did some research and this location kept popping up. Appealed to me since I LOVE all Beauty Shops ... and the combination of a beauty shop turned restaurant was intriguing ... coupled with the great reviews I had to go ... and WAS NOT disappointed!

Eclectic, historic, fun, delicious, interesting, unique and friendly are all great words to describe this place. I would recommend to anyone, young, old, male, female ... you will enjoy! I had the eggs benny with the ham ... soooooooooo good! All the food I saw served was beautiful and looked so yummy. My husband had the steak and eggs and mom had the French Toast with mango, coconut and berries ... fantastic. Enjoy with a Grapefruit Mimosa and you are set! Don't miss out ... make reservations so you don't have to wait.
