Itta Bena is a hidden treasure on the top floor of BB Kings on Beale Street. Fine dining, nice atmosphere, great service. Reservations our recommended but seats are available at the bar as well. Piano player for entertainment. Seats overlooking Beale Street are available. However, the BBKings signs is right at that level and a bit bright up close.
Great desserts btw. The vinaigrette on the salad was a bit heavy on vinegar.

First of all, it's an adventure to get to Itta Bene as there are no signs and one has to rely on staff at BB King's Club to help. One inside the restaurant (on the third floor above BB King's) you are amazed at the ambiance. Staff was friendly and helpful. Ellen was our server and she did a great job of taking care of us. We enjoyed the field greens and wedge salads in addition to the fried avocado. Entrees were salmon and red snapper - both excellent. A very nice evening and outstanding dining experience. We plan to return when in Memphis!

This is a gem of a restaurant and the ambiance is serene and almost ethereal. Maybe it's the blue light? The fact that you need to go through an unmarked door and up a secret stairway really adds to the experience. We would never have found this without Tripadvisor and I am so glad we did. We stayed at the Peabody and were underwhelmed by their restaurant, but this was excellent. I cannot say enough good things about it. Our waiter (Alexsander) was fabulous, did not rush us, and suggested some great choices. Every dish was better than the the last and my daughter wept when she tasted the creme brulee. It is really that good.

We had reservations for 6 that happened to be lost when we arrived. My husband showed the staff our confirmed reservation on his iPhone and they graciously and quickly accommodated us.
The atmosphere is sophisticated, but very comfortable. It's great for a romantic dinner, or gathering with friends.
After one person at our table ordered an entree and was assured it wouldn't be too spicy (she can't handle any hot spices) and it was too spicy for her, the waiter too it back to the kitchen and prepared a new entree with no spice. They were so gracious and went out of their way to be accommodating and friendly!
The food was excellently prepared - I'd definitely come back again when in Memphis.

We loved the blues clubs in Memphis but were getting tired of the BBQ, french fry, cole slaw meals while there. Saw a mention of Itta Bena on one of the Trip Advisor reviews and what a find. We went to B. B. Kings and listened to the music as long as we wanted and then took the stairway inside the building upstairs to Itta Bena's. A nice fine dining experience with blue tinted windows. Great ambience, great food, and you could go back downstairs after dinner for more music!
