On our way to Campbell Castle, we dropped into the museum to see what they might have to see. Spent a pleasant hour being shown around by the attendant, seeing displays and checking out their ancestry records. Would love to go back and spend hours on research.

A small but very interesting museum devoted to the history and origins of the village of Dollar in Clackmannanshire.
Entrance is free but there is a box for donations. The museum on the ground floor and the archives on the first floor are well laid out and informative and a gentleman who turned out to be the chairman of the Community Council, as well as a governor of Dollar Academy, the magnificent school which dominates the village, was guarding the shop that day and proved to be a veritable fount of local knowledge. If you have any interest in local history and you find yourself near Dollar with an hour to kill, you will find it well worthwhile to pay this place a visit.

Visited this small museum several times over the years. It's staffed by enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers. There's much to interest anyone looking for information on the former railway links of Dollar, and its mining history. Old maps of the area tell a fascinating story of Dollar's development, and there's usually a special exhibit running.

It was interesting to browse the museum to find out more about Dollar's past and also a bit about it today. There is an extensive range of photographs, particularly of the railway that used to run through Dollar. The exhibition was brought alive by Jennifer, one of the volunteers, who showed us around. She was able to tell us her own experiences which made the visit even more interesting. Thank you for this.
