“Absolutely stunning - could not be bettered”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2011

We stayed at Briar Cottage and could not have found anywhere better to spend our holiday. The location is stunning and takes your breath away. It's a very relaxing place to stay and you can unwind from the minute you arrive there. Everything about the cottage is excellent and caters for all your needs - a real home from home. I described it as "Brigadoon" - magical and mystical where the location could not be bettered. Kim and Fraser are fantastic hosts, so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble - they are very easy to get on with people. All in all a fantastic holiday!

How kind. We are delighted that you enjoyed the cottage, terrain and relaxing experience at Little Briar Cottage. I think that you are spot on with Brigadoon. We have our own little mystical magical world here that is not always easy to describe in words.

Many thanks to you both.

My wife and I stayed for two nights with my cousin Jenny and her husband Joe who have been going to Briar Cottages for four years now.
We mest Fraser and Kim on the first night and had a few drinks in their company, they are a smashing couple who couldn't do enough for us and made us as welcome as though we were old friends, we had a real laugh with them.
We will definitely be looking at booking to saty again. Jim and Beryl Kennedy from Watford.

I have struggled with formulating an adequate description for the title of this review. The best covers it all. Lochearnhead and the surrounding area has everything we could desire for the perfect break. The scenery, wildlife and countryside are perfect. The activities provided for on the Loch and Loch side are first class. All of this was enhanced by the fantastic accomodation at Briar cotages, especially Little Briar. Fraser and Kim are the perfect hosts, ensuring that our every need was catered for and nothing was too much trouble. The cottages are of a very high standard of furnishingsand cleanliness. You want for nothing. The hot tub was a very welcome attraction at the end of the day. The obvious dedication to providing a first class venue by Kim and Fraser is clearly evident. The Thursday get together at the summer house is a fantastic idea and the provision of games and entertainment Loch side are perfect. On a personal note thank you so much Fraser and Kim for a perfect week and your ease of manner and relaxed approach. We will be back. Very best wishes Charlie, Jannette, Laura, Pip and Alfie.

Thank you. It was a pleasure to have your family here entering into the spirit of everything from our home made putting holes on the loch side lawn to beach picnics by boat and an evening soak in the hot tub. We witnessed some fine water sports by your family, including pip the dog retrieving sticks from Loch Earn. We would be delighted to welcome you back.

Kindest wishes

My pal,my son and I spent 4 days at the cottage. We were greeted by Fraiser n Kim (owners of biar cottage).Immediately knew that this will be a wonderful stay as they greeted us with warmth n attention.
View was breath taking, with the lake n mountains ride at our doorstep.
Morning routines include a hot cup of coffee, toast n sitting at the balcony enjoying the fresh air n fantastic view.
My son,who is 3 years old enjoyed the stay thorough. It felt like he was born there as he immediately felt at ease with the peaceful surroundings of grass, lake n mountains. He made friends with 2 residence ducks there as well.
Fraiser n Kim were excellent hosts n became friends.Fraiser became like a mentor like idol to me and there were lots of tips I picked from him about making it in life throughout our conversations.
Grocery shopping is a breeze as we were able to buy everything we needed with just 20 minutes drive away at Killin.
Facilities very adequate.
(Fraiser's wine collection is very good which he will definitely share if u ask)
Overall we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly n did not want to leave and decided that this should be included as my annual retreat destination.
By the way,I come from singapore which is about 15 hours of air travel away n I have no qualms about coming back here again.
To friends who are reading this review,I highly recommend biar cottage as a place of choice and a must stay if u are considering a peaceful n relaxing getaway or retreat.
Fraiser and Kim thanks so much for making our stay possible.
We will see you again!

Spent a wonderful week at Briar cottage. The setting is fantastic, views of the loch are breathtaking. If you can tear yourself away from the cottage then there are wonderful walks within the area, outdoor pursuits opportunities in abundance. Places to eat offering a variety of foods and prices either within a short walking distance or a short ride. The accomodation is first rate and has everything you could possibly want. Kim and Fraser are wonderful hosts and make you very welcome. Would certainly recommend this "gem."

See a fine example of an original Scots pine cruck framed ceiling. We will be delighted to share stories of past tenants from local clans MacGregor and McLaren. Descendants of these clans often return to the area to see the house and grounds and to take part in the traditional Highland Games in Lochearnhead in July. Briar Cottages offer excellent view points for photography - from the top of the garden near the old Lochearnhead to Comrie railway walkway - to the jetty on Loch Earn. This is a terrific area for outdoor sports, wildlife, touring Scotland and relaxation.
