Once you have found this little gem it is well worth a stop and some pictures. Historically interesting and aesthetically pleasing, it needs to be done.

Difficult to get to (roads and farmers moving cattle!!) and hardly any signage to help. Parking was difficult.

Stopped by this Ruin on the way to the beach while visiting the Isle of Bute. I took a couple of very cool photos while there which I have added to this review. Well worth a stop for some photos on your way around the Island. I think the photos I took there are amoung the best I have ever taken.

Found this place to be of exceptional historical interest and a pleasure to have spent the time there, did not know it existed until recently.

We found the chapel on O/S Explorer map 362 and decided to pay a visit after seeing St Blanes on the south of the Island. There is a small car parking area at the end of a farm track which you follow for about 3Km before it opens out from the woods. The track is littered with building rubble and farming remnants which you just have to ignore-Its a real pity. Every now and then Peacocks will spring out from the woods. You will eventually see a white cottage (Kilmichael) and in the field on the left there is Michaels Grave which is a chambered Cairn -one of several in the area.in the field beyond nearer the Kyles of Bute you will see the Chapel ruins behind an enclosing wall which has an entry gate. The chapel is tiny and the altar is still in place against one wall. The surrounding graveyard has a few stones with the inscriptions still visible. Its a bleak place and even on a good day was eerie and relatively cold. The views over the water to Kames are worth the walk but the fascination is the tiny size of the chapel and remoteness of the location.
