My wife and I stayed here for a night and found the hotel to be a majestic hideaway. The food was astounding and the grounds unbelievably peaceful.

I would love to go back and stay at Ardanaiseig Hotel to completely witch off !!

Dear Stuart K,

Many thanks for such a lovely review.

We are so happy to hear you and your wife loved your stay with us at Ardanaiseig.

Ardanaiseig really is a great place to switch off from the hustle and bustle of daily life, get back to one with nature and view Scotland countryside at its very best.

Kindest Regards

Thought this venue looked stunning online and decided to put it on our list. Took us an hour and a half to travel to it and had arranged to be show around it at 10.30. We arrived at 10.20 to find a note on the door advising the hotel was closed but to call a mobile number and somebody would be there in “10 minutes”. 15 minutes later the “wedding planner” arrived by car ... we waited another 5 minutes whilst she entered from the back of the house and eventually arrived at the front door. Clearly she had forgotten about our appointment! Not a good start I’m afraid. During the 15 minute wait, we all decided to walk around the house and take in the view of the Loch. The gardens sadly are unkempt, and I am aware that it was winter but even so. The pot holes and deep puddles in the drive at the front of the house were a disgrace and the windows to the back were in a dreadful state, peeling and flaking paint. On entering the foyer, we were met with a load of welly boots strewn all over the floor and an untidy appearance in general. The house is painted in very dark colours making it dark, dull and very uninviting. On viewing the bedrooms, we were disappointed to see them in such a state. The “wedding planner” told us that her partner had family staying the night before and the rooms were strewn with empty coke cans, lager and Guinness cans, empty boxes of nuggets and haribo packets, en suite toilets used and not flushed, heavy stains on all the carpets and beds unmade or stripped ... the house was a mess. We were then given a key and directions to the boat house .. we didn’t need the key as it was unlocked. Again, bed stripped and duvet thrown over the mezzanine balcony. Empty wine bottles and glasses in the kitchen area. Stunning view over the loch .. just a shame the place was not in a fit state to appreciate it! The owner of this establishment is based in London and it is my opinion that he should take a wee trip up to his hotel unannounced to check it out. It’s such a shame as it is in a beautiful location with baby deer running around on the grounds ... it just needs attention to detail and somebody there running it as a proper wedding venue and not as a doss house! Needless to say, we will not be using it for our wedding.

Room Tip: Could be luxury if run properly !

Dear Hugoboss5
There is absolutely no excuse for the poor show around and condition you saw the property in when you had made an appointment to come through for a venue site inspection.
The property is currently being deep cleaned from top to bottom, the entire house has been painted and touched up and the drive way infront of the main doors is being redone with gravel to fill in all the holes and to restore the entrance to the picturesque backdrop that so many of our bridal couples use in their photo shoots. This past year has been a very wet and particularly cold which has taken its toll on the roads and grounds in particular but as weather starts improving we will be getting the house and grounds back to its former beauty.
Please may we extend a complimentary stay to you and your partner to come through at any time that we are available for a 2 x night stay bed and breakfast in our Honeymoon Suite / Boatshed. We would love the opportunity to try and redeem ourselves and show you that we truly are a beautiful venue worthy of hosting the most special of occasions. You can contact me directly on 01866 833 333 or 01866 833 257.

We took advantage of the hotel’s winter warmer offer. The staff provided an excellent service. We were very lucky with the weather and the views afforded by the hotel were spectacular. It is a shame to see such beautiful grounds (beyond the view from the hotel windows) overgrown - particularly the walled garden.

We were so excited to stay at Ardanaiseig at the end of our honeymoon. But once we had left we were not totally so enamoured by our stay and the price we had paid.
Firstly, yes you have to drive down a single track road for a while. This did not bother me at all, it was part of the whole experience of finding this off the beaten track place and only added to our excitement.
Once we arrived we had a really warm welcome and were impressed with the deco of the communal rooms. We had splashed out on a Master Loch view room (Crauchan) for 2 nights and the hotel has managed to put us in one of our top choices.
The room itself was lovely and the view spectacular, we even spotted a deer one morning on the front lawn. The bathroom did not have the luxury feel that you might expect but was fine.
The grounds are overgrown and dilapidated, it so happens we found this very intriguing and atmospheric and enjoyed our long walk exploring. We managed to take some great photos.
After having pre dinner drinks we went into dinner with high hopes. These I have to say were dashed. The menu is limited and the food (in our opinion) just not worth the money. We are not fussy and enjoy dining out at a variety of places. But for the prices you are paying (having been to restaurants in similar price brackets before) we were very disappointed. So much so that we did not eat in the restaurant the next night but booked in for the latest possible Sunday lunch at the pub about 5 miles down the road. Which I have to say was absolutely delicious. Such a shame as this ruined our evening and to be honest our stay.
Breakfast was very sub-standard. We did not pay for the cooked breakfast but the limited choice of the cold options was not something you would expect for such a hotel. Could this not be included in the rate at least?!
I was hoping that we would return here for big anniversaries in our future, but I really would be hesitant to do so now. Such a shame.

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Ardanaiseig Hotel. Yes the road from Taynuilt to the hotel is single track, although in places it is wide enough for two cars to pass comfortably, there are lots of passing places and the road surface is excellent. The scenery is lovely so do not rush and enjoy the views. From the gate of the hotel to the entrance the road is not so good and needs a little care but it is not far at all.

The hotel is sat in wonderful grounds on the side of Loch Awe. Take stout boots, although wellies are available at the hotel, and explore. The grounds have a magical feel.

Our room had a breathtaking Loch view so watching the sunset and dawn break over the Loch was fabulous. If you do not have Loch view use the window in the drawing room.

No two rooms are the same at Ardanaiseig Hotel so look at there website to see how lovely they are. Cosy, quirky and unique not corporate or pristine.

Evening meals where lovely, delicious with generous portions but perhaps the breakfast buffet could do with some improvement.

All the public spaces are gorgeous but the drawing room is wonderful, perfect for a drink before bed.

The hotel staff are really great and have a wealth of knowledge about the hotel and surrounding area.

It is so peaceful and relaxing at Ardanaiseig Hotel.
