Myself, my partner and our Labrador Robbie have just spent a great four day break at the Holly Tree Hotel.
After reading mixed reviews on the hotel, we decided to give it a try anyway. We weren't disappointed.
I booked over the phone and the receptionist was very pleasant. Took our booking and explained about the rooms, and which one we could have that would make it easier for the dog. I chose a ground floor room so that Robbie could get out easier through the patio doors.
On arrival we were greeted at the reception by a lovely lady, who gave us our room key and gave us the general information on the hotel.
The room was lovely with a wet room, huge bed, tv, DVD player and a small stereo, also tea, coffee and biscuits !
There is also DVD hire.
The patio doors opened up to a fenced off patio area with a table a chairs, which looked over the loch.
The views were just stunning.
We were lucky with the weather when we were there (9/11/18)
The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, especially in the bar and when we were having our meals.
The menu had a good variety of dishes and were reasonably priced, good portions as well ! Sometimes too much ! But they were amazing.
We tried the fish and chips, chicken burger, chicken with haggis and peppercorn sauce and the steak pie (over the four days) all were excellent.
Puddings were good too
A good selection at breakfast, tea or coffe, toast, fruit, cereal and a hot selection.
Bacon eggs, sausage, black pudding, haggis, mushrooms, tomatoes and beans. Very tasty .
We were allowed Robbie in the bar area, although we didn't take him in when we were eating.
After our meal we could sit it another area of the bar with Robbie and enjoy a drink.
There were another two dogs there when we were there and they all behaved brilliantly.
The only place the dogs are not allowed is in the restaurant which is understandable
The swimming pool was good too and also the jacuzzi, as usual with these places the pool isn't too big, but ok and they was a sauna as well.
There was a cycle path which ran past the hotel, which was fine for walking Robbie, and we were away from the road.
There was a folder of information in the room of local places to see and walks to do.

Room tip: Ask for a view to the loch if you can, and if you have a dog a room on the ground floor would be good. If like us you have an older dog.
