We stayed at this outstanding house mainly because we have always been meaning to eat in the renowned Three Chimneys Restaurant which is literally two minutes walk down the hilll. The meal was lovely but it turned out it was Rhundunan which was the highlight of our trip. The house sits on a hill (you can drive to the door) with the most stunning views from every window over the loch, dotted with islands, looking out to the Outer Hebrides. The weather was mixed when we were there but we didn't mind since the house is so cosy and comfortable - we loved chilling out on the reclining sofa, in front of the fire, watching movies on the big screen TV (there were even DVDs provided).
The house was spotless and the decor was contemporary but also really comfortable. The kitchen was really well equipped with a big dining table, dishwasher etc. The bedrooms were really beautiful and we slept like logs upstairs in the comfiest bed we'd ever slept in. Someone else in the Visitor Book said it was like sleeping on a cloud - and it was!
In the evenings, we would go down to the shore and sit on the rocks with a bottle of wine and watch the seals bop about, before either going to the Three Chimneys for dinner, or The Old School House which is a couple of miles away (much cheaper but very nice) or head back for a cosy night in. During the day, we could head straight out and into the Cuillin hills - for yet more fresh air, away from it all, and more top views.
The most relaxing, get-away-from-it-all holiday ever. Views to die for, a perfect house, great places to eat, peace and quiet, and lovely walks to the shore, the hills and everything in between!
