“All the comforts of home......... plus”
Reviewed 9 October 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Very well appointed property that affords all the comforts of home. The kitchen has everything you would need when dining in and Val provides fresh seafood and local lamb upon request....we strongly recommend adopting this aspect.
Kick-back after a day exploring the fabulous Lewis coastline, using the 3 sided panorama from the living room. Burn some local peat (provided), and all the ingredients are to hand for that well-earned, "unwind"......Simply fabulous.

“This croft house has never failed to please us after numerous stays.”
Reviewed 26 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

My wife and I have stayed in this wonderful croft house many times now, some just ourselves and some with friends. Everyone we have brought up here have fallen for the place from the moment they saw it. This year we brought out 4 year old grandson and were a bit apprehensive as he had never been away from his parents for any length of time before. It turned out he just loved his stay at the "wee house" as he called it and was in his element on all the beautiful beaches we visited. On his last day, as he was getting into his bed, he even said "papa, I don't want to go home tomorrow". That, on its own, is a good enough testament to me just how good this venue is.

“Out Of This World”
Reviewed 20 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We have just returned from a two week stay at An Taigh Clach. What can we say but, Absolutely Superb. Val and Calum go above and beyond to make your holiday extra special, they really made us feel part of the family. An Taigh Clach is beautifully laid out, clean and tidy with everything you could wish for (A Real Home From home). It is a good base for getting round the islands and has wonderful peaceful surroundings. If you enjoy the night sky we recommend taking time to go and sit out with a cuppa or a wee dram to take in the display of stars. We enjoyed our stay and will return, the atmosphere is wonderful and the peat fire is a lovely touch. We saw lots of local wildlife including a Hawk/Kestrel, Seals in the bay at Gearrnnan near the Black House Village and it was a pleasure meeting Tess the Border Collie. We cannot say enough about An Taigh Clach or Val and Calum. thank you for a wonderful stay and making our holiday So Special.

Really lovely cottage and, as many others have said, extremely wamr welcome from Valerie and Callum. Highlights were the dolphins (seen on the ferry on the way in), the lobster and crabs and the sand!

“comfortable”
Reviewed 15 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

a quiet location good as a central location for touring around .Owner popped in a lot with cakes/treats and suggestions . I wish there had been more info prior to arrival or booking as to the access to the property as there are steep stairs from the single track road . It had good sunset views. The mattresses in the main bedroom could do with upgrading ....all other furniture was very comfortable ..... we had issues with the woodburner as the maintenance had not picked up a corrosion problem which resulted in the back plate shattering while hot and the fire brigade being called out to make safe ..... some of the cleaning needs to be more through between rentals ...no one wants to go on holiday and have to clean the cooker and hob

Management Response
18 Aug 2015
Thank you for your ‘Comfortable’ review of ‘An Taigh Clach’.
Regarding access, our website clearly states “This property is not suitable for wheelchair access. Neither is this property suitable for people with limited mobility”. The aerial picture on TripAdvisor / Holiday Lettings clearly show the steps to the front and rear of the property. If we had been informed that there was an issue with regard to the cooker, we would obviously have dealt with this immediately. With regard to the multi fuel stove, we clean the stove at each changeover and there was nothing to indicate corrosion or imminent failure on the inside of the rear flue blanking plate. You were right to call the Fire Brigade when the plate fractured and we were informed that there were only a few embers in the stove at the time and that they had already been doused with water. The Fire Brigade responded extremely quickly, did not have to take any action and assured us all that everything was safe. Whilst every endeavour was made to source a replacement blanking plate, we were unable to source one in the UK before the end of your stay. Alternative heating in the form of three wall mounted heaters was available at all times. With regard to the mattress in the double bedroom – it is impossible to satisfy everyone’s individual preferences.
Your comments in our guest book - “Thank you so much – you have spoiled us right from the start. The cottage is perfect in every way. Your warmth and kindness and the peace and quiet here was what was needed! Trip Advisor will get the full report A****** Well done !
