Lovely place, great service, fabulous breakfasts (you won't go starving here, and it's very good quality too -- this is not a cheap "big is better" type breakfast!).

Very easy going, and very accommodating to provide a cot bed for our 1 year old baby.

Port Ellen is short of eating places, but well located for some of the "better" whiskey distilleries.

Spent two nights at Oyster catcher whilst doing a tour of the distilleries, very clean and comfortable with a good location on the harbour front within walking distance of all three local whisky producers, two pubs and a hotel bar within five minutes walking distance and the best Scottish breakfast i`ve ever had, being six foot one i did struggle a bit with the single bed but all in all a very good B and B.

We took the 2 hour ferry ride to Port Ellen and arrived at 8:30pm. It was literally a 30 second drive to this B & B so the best location! Immediately we were greeted by Lynn, a very warm hearted and friendly host. She told us where our rooms were and we immediately fell in love with the country charm. This B & B is also about a mile from all the distillery tours we were taking the next day -- Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and Ardbeg. Very conveniently located.

The breakfast choices were the best we had in our stay all over Europe! She lent me a few band aids and while we were there, even lent one of her belts to another guest. Just giving, giving, giving.

We will definitely stay here again!

We stayed for two nights in the Oystercatcher and would return without hesitation. Lynn, the owner, was very friendly and helpful and very kindly wouldn't accept payment from us for one night's stay when we had to cut our holiday short to go home for a funeral. The rooms and spotless and well-decorated, with good en-suite bathrooms. The breakfasts are superb, as noted by many others. Despite being on the seafront and in a terrace of houses, the rooms were very quiet at night. The payout worked really well for us too, with two rooms upstairs and one down - this meant that we and our two children could occupy the whole of the upstairs and leave the doors open between rooms.

This would be a great choice if you're looking to stay in the south of the island, for example to visit the trip of distilleries near Port Ellen.
