Review is about Boswell's Coach House in the grounds of Auchinleck House but Search did not find it.
Lovely surroundings in the converted coach house. Only here for morning coffee but there seemed to be a selection of main meals available too.
Tea, coffee, scones and cakes were all first class. Well made, well presented and served promptly with a smile.
Definitely worth a visit and I may return for lunch in future.
There is a well stocked gift shop to browse round too.

Great to have the full run of a stately home all to ourselves for a few days! Lovely house, & grounds, really cosy & warm not creepy at all despite its size. First time Land mark users, would definately stay again. All the family had a great time, the weather didn't put a damper on it either. Helpful housekeeper and farmer who delivered the logs for the fire. Can't wait to make our next booking

We are devoted 'Landmarkers' and have never had a bad experience. Auchinleck House did not disappoint.

Firstly, much to our surprise, the house is warm ... all the time, with copious amounts of hot water ( you need to see the size of the boilers to appreciate this. ) Yes, as usual you can light fires in certain rooms and we did ... more for gratuitous effect than any actual need.

The restoration was dictated by Historic Scotland, so inevitably there are quirks.Double glazing was not allowed and old door furniture which locked at least one of us in the lavatory was specified. But we were not fazed.

The kitchen easily can cater for 15 people, ( a full house plus two guests ). The bedrooms are fine but prepare yourself for old style blankets and pillows.

The housekeeping team do a marvellous preparation job. Absolutely perfect. The 'Library' is where everyone seems to relax but there is always the small sitting room or study.

Yes ... the building already needs a little TLC but the restoration has been superb. In the basement you get a feel for 'older times'.

It is competitively priced, especially if you fill the whole building and everyone contributes. A big Tescos is nearby in Auchinleck. The grounds are full of follies etc,

Room Tip: The best room is the downstairs double.

I enjoy visiting many of our stately homes and this comes out one of the top in my list. It is a 'homely' house for a stately home, whereas many others are more like town halls or museums. This is a great place to visit.

Beautifully restored building. A huge effort has gone into explaining the history of the renovation and the Boswell family connection - which is still real. Living with some of Boswell's furniture gives a true sense of living history.
More prosaically, the house was well equipped - especially the spacious kitchen - and it was easy to cook for 14. My friends are demanding in their standards and there were no complaints. Housekeeping staff were charming. The two day event in an adjacent field where humans were being lead around a muddy obstacle course by their dogs was of particular interest.
Very comfortable, well heated for an old Scottish country house and, all-in-all, a top flight experience.

Room Tip: Large bedroom on ground floor, while not being ensuite, is magnificent.
