We arrived tired after a long journey and were shown into a delightful suite. Our bathroom had everything the most exacting guest could require We met our hosts in their charming sitting room for drinks prior to being served an exceptional four course meal. Breakfast this morning was amazing. We had a fresh health juice, fresh orange juice and lovely light scrambled eggs on toast. The jams and marmalade were home made and nothing was too much trouble for Susan. We were sorry we only had a one night stay but have booked for October on our next journey south.

Room Tip: There are only three or four rooms and I would imagine they are all to the same high standard

The Cosses Country House is a most pleasant and attractive B&B on the southwestern coast of Scotland. It lies a few miles southeast and inland from the town of Ballantrae, reached by driving up a long country road and then discretely down a narrow driveway. You cannot see the grounds from the street.

We were given a warm welcome by resident dogs Oscar and Monty as well as visiting Lady; a beautiful grey cat later graced us with her appearance. The cleaning person’s dog Mia entertained us on the following day as she played with the other dogs (can you tell we love pets?). We enjoyed a welcome tea and cake in the sunny garden on our first afternoon.

Cosses has two lovely suites which are in a separate building across from the main house. Our suite Aisla, named after the alone-standing rock in the sea nearby, was almost like a small apartment with a separate bedroom, sitting room, and bathroom. We were extremely lucky to have glorious weather during our stay and ended up spending a lot of time in Susan’s beautiful garden, drinking tea, watching the dogs play, and just relaxing. A bubbling stream next to house makes for a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. There are a couple of easy walks near the property and if you want, Oscar will be happy to show you the way.

Susan cooked us a gourmet dinner with the freshest of home-grown ingredients, and as the B&B is fully licensed, we enjoyed both wine and a great selection of whiskies one evening. Breakfast was a show-stopper, too, with freshly prepared juices and our choice of homemade jams. Susan really went out of her way to make our meals, and stay in general, memorable.

Cosses Country House is a wonderful place where you can truly relax, explore Ayrshire and the west coast of Scotland, eat Sue's delicious meals and enjoy her and her husband's conversation. There's also a fantastic and extremely well-behaved dog, Oscar.
For the price that in most B&Bs or hotels you'd pay for a room, at Cosses you get a suite with your own private living room. Recommended.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Cosses Country House Hotel and explored South West Scotland. This place is very special. We stayed in a suite which had a most comfortable bedroom, a separate sitting room and bathroom with a nice long bath. The rooms were immaculate and all those little important matters which are so often forgotten seem to have be thought about.
Susan and Robin made us feel very welcome. The food is to die for. Susan is an accomplished chef. The surrounding countryside is wonderful. This is one of the best properties we have ever stayed in. We cannot recommend it more highly.

We really had a wonderful Time at Cosses Country House! The suite was very nice and spacy with absolut every Equipment you might need. The area around the House is very beautiful especially when you go for a walk with Monty and Oscar, the familiy's two labradors. We enjoyed it a lot. Besides this a Trip to Glenapp Castle and a walk on the Coast Path is highly recommended.
Our Highlight was the Dinner with Susan and Robin and their Family! Susan is a tremandous cook and both are really perfect hosts. It was such a funny evening, we will never forget. Excellent wine and Whisky List.
The Breakfast is also absolutely great, everything is fresh and local. Susan was providing 7 (!!) several kinds of home-made jam!
Thank you for this Great Time!!!

Room Tip: Very quiet area, Perfect for relaxing
