Booking a last minute deal through Wowcher I knew from what we paid i was not expecting 5*.

Our room was clean in need of a bit of update, the bed was lovely bedding and towels clean and of good quality, plenty of tea/coffee supplies and one packet of biscuits.

Our meal on the first night was very tasty staff were friendly and helpful

Breakfast was very basic, two flovours fruit juice, cheap cereal cornflakes Rice Krispies, toast and a cooked breakfast. No good if you are following a healthy/ or have dietary needs, as there was no fruit or bran based cereal I had no breakfast both mornings.

Our toiletries or tea coffee supplies were not topped up, and on a hygienic note our cups were not washed for two days.

This town of Troon is only a 5 minute walk away so the Hotel would be good to stay if visiting.

Went to this Hotel on a two night break from Grupon . It was very reasonable so I honestly was not expecting The Ritz but what I did expect was a clean bed. I stripped off the sheet,, which, like the rest of the bed linen was pure white, to find the dirtiest mattress I have ever encountered in my whole life. It was stained with body fluids all over. My husband and I turned it over to see if we could find a clean side but , no chance. I went down to the girl who checked us in and she said it would be attended to . Went for dinner 3hours later and this is when they said the housekeeper was in stripping everything from the bed. In my I mind, everything must include the mattress. Back up in our room, two mattress covers had been added to the filthy mattress. I had a glass of wine with dinner after the Staff reassured me I would not have to drive home as everything would be changed, so had to make the best of it till morning . Had breakfast and checked out a day early. The staff I spoke to were all lovely and the food was fine but how I would have loved to have a conversation with the owner or at least the housekeeper because unless she made up the beds with her eyes shut she must have seen how dirty and disgusting the mattress was. Just read other reviews saying similar things so looks like the proprietors are not interested

Stayed here with friends and I can honestly say It's the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Drawers were broken and headboard was hanging off wall. Carpets hadn't been hoovered and the walls were covered in mould. No toilet paper and shower had mould around the edges. I'm not a fussy person but this hotel was below even the lowest of standards. Would rather sleep on a park bench than stay there again

We stayed on 31/07/18 for one night only .It is in a nice situation facing the sea in the lovely town of Troon . The hotel is lovely although a little tired in places .This didn't spoil our stay though, The room was clean as was the bedding and the bathroom . The staff are amazing everyone was so helpful. The dinner on Tuesday evening was excellent and was served in the lovely cosy bar.The lady in the breakfast room on Wednesday morning was lovely and explained everything to us . The breakfast was very tasty and was very filling .
We wished we had stayed another night and hopefully will stay again.
Don't listen to the moaners in previous reviews as for the money we paid it was more than worth it . Remember this is an old hotel so if you want all mod cons and a Michelin star this isn't for you but if you want good food & service & hospitality at a reasonable price then give it a try.
