Excellent food, very friendly competent staff. Always reliable for some of the tastiest soup and delicious homemade cakes to be had anywhere in the Highlands.
Interesting setting in the old Victorian Railway Station in Strathpeffer; you can still imagine the steam trains.

I saw good reviews about this coffee shop on Trip Advisor whilst on a recent holiday in the area. We weren't disappointed. Situated in the old Victorian railway station, it has character and charm. The freshly made scones and coffee were delicious. The friendly staff made the visit. We will definitely return when we are next in the area.

The cafe is part of the Museum of Childhood and housed in a renovated Victorian train station just down from the Ben Wyvis Hotel (about a two minute walk). The scent of baked bread, pastries, and coffee fills the room as you walk in and is especially welcome on a cool Scottish morning after one has been strolling about.
I heard that the soups served there are legendary but I was too early to sample one. The coffee was excellent and so was the pastry; especially so as I'd just come from the field nearby where I visited the ancient Eagle Stone of the Picts and my shoes were damp from the morning dew and I was a bit wet from a sudden Scotland rain. The woman who runs the cafe is wonderfully warm and friendly and the prices are reasonable. Be sure to pause and have a look at the hand-carved pillar known as The Ascent of the Scots just outside. It was made by local artist Allister Brebner and is just a fascinating piece of work.
Open 10-5 from 1 April - 31 October everyday and open on Sundays only June-August, 12-4. Handicapped accessible and a lovely little place for a quick bite or a leisurely meal. It was so good to see the old Victorian station being put to such good use. The building itself is worth a visit but the cafe and museum are added treats.

A nice busy little cafe in the disused railway station.

We had some nice food.

It was clean and the staff were nice too.

You can easily imagine the Victorians hustling and bustling through this station as they arrive and depart on holidays. Good standard of tea and coffee and decent home-baking.
