“Oatcakes, Whisky and Laughter!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

We spent four nights with Rona and Michael to celebrate my mother-in-law's 80th birthday, and what a wonderful and truly memorable time we had. They are the most attentive hosts, nothing was ever too much trouble, even down to Rona baking a cake for Jean on her actual birthday. Our rooms were luxurious, and the food, boy oh boy, what a treat! We had excellent breakfasts, and the dinner menu was a feast in itself. I cannot recommend Linnmhor House strongly enough, it was really delightful in every way, and as for the whisky, oatcakes and laughter, well, you'll just to go for yourselves, and then you'll know what I mean!!

We stayed with Mike and Rhona for 2 nights and were utterly spoilt with beautiful food - everything was home made including the oatcakes and the tomato sauce; in fact the oatcakes didn't make it til the starters arrived, they were so tasty! The rooms are lovely. The open fire and log burning stoves were wonderful to relax in front of. We thought this was excellent value for money also.

We spent two nights here in October, 2011. Rona and Michael are wonderful hosts. They are Scottish through and through and their knowledge of the area is vast and is shared with a storyteller's warmth and flair. The rooms are perfectly appointed with every detail considered. Be sure to book for dinner. The food was the most perfect we had during our three weeks in Northern Scotland. The breakfasts are incredible. This is a hidden jewel, well worth the 20 minute drive from Inverness.

We chose this B&B for a long weekend break in the pretty Victorian Strathpeffer based on its existing reviews, and boy, does it deserve the praise! The Edwardian house has been beautifully restored - the communal areas are grand yet homely, the bedrooms plush.. and then there's the food. Rona is an amazing chef and her cooked breakfast menu is in a league of its own (as my husband had put it – ‘this isn’t breakfast, it’s an experience..’) - interesting and unusual options using great local produce, carefully thought through and perfectly prepared.. this place is foodie heaven. The hosts are lovely people to be around, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and look forward to getting back to Linnmhor house soon (to sample the evening meals too!) Well done Rona and Michael, your B&B is the best we have stayed in (and we like our B&Bs!)

My husband I were married in Strathpeffer Pavilion, and stayed, along with some of our wedding party at Linnmhor house. We had the most wonderful stay - Rona and Mike were fantastic hosts, where nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are beautiful, tastefully decorated and very clean at all times. We stayed three nights and the warm and friendly welcome we received made our whole wedding weekend very special - Rona was even sewing my bridesmaid's dress after she tripped on it, just half an hour before the service! The breakfast at Linnmhor was first class as well, and each of our guests had a different perfectly cooked meal every morning. I really cannot fault any part of our stay - this bed and breakfast is by far the best that I have stayed in. If you're planning getting married or just visiting the area, I recommend Linnmhor as the perfect place to stay - the whole package, and very good value.

Room Tip: Each of the rooms are unique and beautiful - almost like a boutique hotel. The largest double was ou...
