“Highland Break”
Reviewed 26 March 2012

We had a very enjoyable holiday at the Highland, and along with fantastic weather (for March) thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Having used the Highland before, it was a pleasant return, and was a very good value break with very helpful and obliging staff.

Room Tip: Views to the front of the hotel are certainly the best and most sought after.

This is my 6th stay at the Highland Hotel so I may be a bit biased, a basic country hotel, with no pretence of stars or awards, but good food, pleasant staff, interesting entertainment and high standards of care by experienced staff, these standards upheld even though the manager was on leave.

Room Tip: You can upgrade to superior rooms

Went on Shearings Inclusive break for 5 days with 2 friends. Absolutely wonderful break, yes some of the rooms may be a little tired but they were spotlessly clean. Lovely comfortable lounges . Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Food excellent and plentiful. Due to the new drinks system luckily there was no abuse of the system. Great entertainment in the evening, both Raymond and Ronnie were excellent, great singing voices and really funny comedians. Highland dancing on one evening was a treat.
Well done Shearings, fantastic value for money,

Value for money is what we do best. It’s nice to hear you found your room spotless. Again it’s so nice the staff get a special mention for been friendly and helpful. Then new drinks system seems to work very well and we are getting a lot of positive feedback from our guests.
I’m really glad you and your friends enjoyed the break. Hopefully you will visit us again soon.
Kind Regards
Alastair Grantham

We went with Shearing’s on a five day break on the 05/03/2012
Absolute bargain,
Hotel is well run all staff really work hard to ensure everybody has a good break
A big thank you to Rita in the dining room for the pleasant service she provided
Food was good and a choice of four meals are provided every evening
We stayed in a bargain room it was cleaned everyday and warm,
Upgrade to a better room if you can afford it but be assured the rooms are not too bad
A big well done also to the Manager who was helping out in the bar, collecting glasses and doing numerous jobs to again ensure everybody had a good time
Entertainment was fantastic especially Ronnie Ross
Well done to ALL the staff at the Highland Hotel

Room Tip: Rooms looking over the village have better veiws

Food excellent, entertainment good but accommodation very very tired. Were on a 3 day break and got an excellent price with shearings, so felt coud not complain too much. Was moved to a slightly better room after asking, but overall standard of housekeeping is poor. Cobwebs on ceiling trailing to curtains, dust on bedside lamps, one bath handle missing and one tap head missing! Bed linen clean otherwise I would have had a major problem staying there. Food & staff make the place. I would not have been happy if I had paid full price for my stay!
