We stayed in this B&B in the middle of the Scottish winter for 4 nights. Its location is central within the Highlands and is therefore a perfect base for exploring the area. Our room was spacious, clean and well-equipped. Breakfast every morning was good. Rory, the owner, and his family were lovely to us and overall we warmed to this place, however, it could do with a touch of maintenance: e.g. the pillows were rather old and lumpy; one of the blinds (in our bathroom) was broken and was in need of repair; also the bathroom struggled with a bit of mould but I appreciate mould is a losing battle in Scottish weather. Notwithstanding this, our stay at the Woodlands was lovely and I recommend this B&B unreservedly.

Having previously stayed 2 nights in accommodation which we really didn't like and didn't feel comfortable in at all (airbnb, Edinburgh, Leith street), the Skye room at the Woodlands guesthouse felt like heaven to us when we arrived here tonight!! It is really spacious and really clean (something we have now learnt not to take for granted) and the interior of the room is lovely too. Exactly as shown in the pictures on their website! We are thrilled to have such a nice room. It is very thoughtfully decorated and contains useful things like tea /coffee facilities (plus biscuits), complimentary body wash and shampoo bottles, hair dryer etc. Wifi is free too which is great and super helpful. You can pre order your breakfast by filling out a respective sheet. The choices on there sound promising and we look forward to breakfast tomorrow morning. Shame we are only here for 1nt. Have already recommended this guesthouse to our friends who will be visiting Scotland next year.

Do not expect friendly staff or any issues to be dealt with. Unexpectedly unfriendly staff comparing to all the other accomodation we used while in friendly Scotland. Wifi was not working, room heater not functioning, cable TV poor to not working at all. All luxuries we do not require (except to try and dry clothes) but staff repeatedly dealt with several guest complaints with "never had a problem with that before? Wife was not 100% so we were late for appointed breakfast, staff said "we are 1 hour late" so don't expect friendly service. Scotland visit highly recommended but avoid this BandB.

On arrival we were met by one of our hosts, I presume Rory, as he did not introduce himself. He was talking on his mobile and showed us to our room. After the briefest of introductions to our room his mobile rang and he was more interested in his call than he was to us. We found the beds to be the worst of the six b&b's we stayed in over the week, quiet hard and uncomfortable. The blind on the skylight would not close so daylight streamed in in the early hours and the shower head dropped to the base of the support and was horrible to use. In the morning we met, I assume Lisa, as again she did not introduce herself. However she was quite bubbly but did seem under pressure. The breakfast was the poorest of our weeks walking. On departing we left our keys on the desk by the door and simply walked away as there was no one there to say bye to.

My boyfriend and I arrived early evening after an 8 hour drive from Leeds, the gentleman who greeted us was friendly but you kind of felt like you were intruding in someone's home, a little bit awkward!

We stayed in Iona and it was gorgeous, roomy, very clean and the bed was very comfortable. It was well equipped and the complimentary toiletries were a lovely touch.

Breakfast was a bit disappointing, I'm a vegetarian and there was little choice for me, my boyfriends eats meat and found the Full English very basic. The lady who served us on Friday had chipped nail polish on and her general cleanliness wasn't good.

The hotel is in beautiful grounds, in a stunning setting and was a great base. Check out Loch Ness Inn for gorgeous meals.
In summary this is a lovely place to stay but breakfast is a let down.
