We recently stayed at the hotel for two nights and would highly recommend it. The staff were excellent and the food was freshly cooked and very high quality. Even though we checked in at 8pm there was no problem booking a table in the dining room and when we sat down there was no rush to get the meal served and have us out quickly. I have absolutely no faults and highly recommend the hotel.

Dear AJG1271690,
Many thanks for your glowing review following your recent stay at the Royal Golf Hotel.
It is rewarding to know that we are offering a high level of service to our guests and that nothing is too much trouble which of course is exactly as it should be!
We have recruited a few new people this year especially in the restaurant and so it is pleasing to hear they are doing a good job.
I hope you will consider visiting again in the future.
Kind Regards

Stayed as part of a golfing break combining Royal Dornoch with Castle Stuart in Inverness. Turned out to be an excellent choice as the Royal Golf Hotel really made our stay very enjoyable. Staff were helpful throughout, room was very comfortable and the food, both breakfast and evening meal were of a very high standard. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel, and if you are a golfer - two of the best courses in the world complemented by an excellent hotel.

Excellent Hotel from the personal welcome followed by a lovely room, enjoyable evening meal and brekfast. Our room was first class, overlooking the golf course with a hugh comfortable bed and excellent shower. Our teenage daughter, travelling with us had a lovely single room again with a large ensuite. The dinner menu was varied, something for everyone, and well cooked. All staff were proffesional, friendly and helpful . We certainly hope to stay there again. You don't have to play golf to enjoy the stay!

Dear Kim,
Thank you for posting your very complimentary review recently on tripadvisor.
Naturally I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay here at The Royal Golf Hotel.
It is rewarding to hear that everything was satisfactory and yes, although many of our guests are indeed golfers, it is absolutely true when you say the hotel is not just for golfers and can be enjoyed by anyone looking for a relaxing break in this beautiful corner of Scotland.
Thank you again and we hope to see you once more in the future.
Kind Regards,

We stayed here after completing the Land's End to John O'Groats cycle ride and everything was as you would wish in a privately run hotel. Bedrooms were very well presented, very clean and beds extremely comfortable. Newly refurbished bathrooms are well appointed. Food in the restaurant was very good and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was well made and quickly produced. If I played golf I am sure this would be a good place to stay too!

Dear Peter,
Thankyou for taking time out to post your review recently on tripadvisor following your stay here after completing your marathon journey to John O' Groats by bicycle.
Your comments are very kind and much appreciated and I image you were ready for a comfortable bed after all that time in the saddle! Your enjoyable stay here proves that you don't have to be a golfer to enjoy the food, comfort and relaxing surroundings of the hotel.
If ever you decide to cycle to the roof of Scotland again, you know where we are.
All the best and kind regards,

The Royal Golf Hotel is ideally located for anyone contemplating a golfing holiday. The challenging Royal Dornoch is right on the doorstep and other quality courses such as Golspie, Brora and Tain are within a short drive.
The welcome was warm and staff throughout the hotel are friendly, well trained and attentive with nothing too much trouble for them.
Rooms are well furnished and the large beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms have recently been refurbished to a very high standard with top of the range fittings. Once you are in the large walk in shower you don't want to come out.
Only A La Carte is available in the restaurant and the menu is limited and a bit pricey. Portion sizes are meagre and, although we are not large eaters, we were still hungry after 3 courses. For more hearty and reasonably priced food the adjacent golf club is well worth a try.

Dear Joabil,

Thank you for posting a review on tripadvisor following your stay here at the beginning of April.
We were all delighted to read your comments regarding the hotels location, the warm welcome and the teams friendly approach which is exactly what we all strive to achieve.
I am pleased you enjoyed your newly re-furbished bathroom with large walk-in shower.

However I must be honest and say I was slightly disappointed and concerned by your feedback regarding the menu choice and food portions. Including the daily specials there are up to seven starters and fourteen main courses available which I believe is a reasonable selection. However I would also add that we have taken your comments on board and very seriously, especially as it was the start of the 2012 season and we were naturally keen to get off on the right footing, so as several weeks have elapsed since your stay I have had an opportunity to seek the opinion of other guests all of which were very complimentary.

Since the hotel re-opened in March 2010 comments regarding the food have always been extremely positive and we were keen to maintain this standard, so when reading your review it was important that we acted quickly and positively to arrest the situation which I believe we have done.

So I thank you once again for bringing this issue to my attention and hope that we will have an opportunity to welcome you to The Royal Golf Hotel again next Spring.

All the best & kind regards,

Robert Ratcliffe
