Even on a dreich rainy day, this was an interesting and thought-inspiring visit. Unlike most brochs, this one had a village built around it. The visitor centre was proportionate and the guy working in it was knowledgeable and friendly.

We really enjoyed our visit here, we had a personal tour from a cat that led us around the ruins to the centre of the Broch then proceeded to ignore us once he'd done his job... like many sites on the Orkney Islands it's easy to imagine the community living in and around the ruins. Very glad we decided to make this our last stop of the day, would love to visit again

You can just imagine the village full of people milling around all those years ago. There are some very interesting buildings and what looks like bowls made of stone lying around. It's not as old as Skara Brae and also a bit out of the way, but worth a look. In the questions below, "you don't have to pay for the wifi" because there isn't any, they didn't think of it back then!!

Looking on the other island this Broch makes sense. Behind is the hills of the birds. A small beach is accessible on the way.
