This was our third visit, and we would readily recommend the flat to anyone wanting to stay in Crail. It is modern and very well appointed, but also has a comforable, homely feel. A great place for any families or small groups of friends wanting to tour around the East Neuk corner of Fife, play some of the many golf courses, or enjoy the various arts festivals which take place in the area. There is a good range of shops and other facilities in the village and, for those without a car, the 95 bus offers a regular service to St Andrews in one direction and some of the south coast villages in the othe
Our family (aged 4- 70) recently spent a few days here together to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday. We could not have asked for a better place to stay!! The house was spotlessly clean, spacious, beautifully decorated throughout and has absolutely everything you could need!! The children particularly loved the huge choice of games & dvds in the house, which helped keep them amused in the evenings. The kitchen is very well equipped and there was plenty of crockery etc for our whole family. There is a small hotel & bar 2 mins walk away - ideal for a drink, something to eat or a game of pool or darts! Crail is such a beautiful wee town, with lots of character and just a 5 min stroll from the house. The East Neuk of Fife is well worth a visit with so many places to explore including St Andrew's, Elie, Anstruther - all within easy reach of Crail. There is also a very regular bus service - with a bus stop just round the corner, should you wish to leave the car parked up. Our only negative comment would be that our 3 days went by much too quickly!!! We would love to return for another wee holiday sometime!!! We would be confident to recommend 2 Balcomie Green to friends & family. :)
We stayed here last Easter with our two young children (2 and 5) and found it to be very spacious and a great location. We loved the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area and the children loved that there were DVDs/games/toys for them. The appartment was very clean, well equiped and had lovely decor.
There is a small park and the beach just 5 minutes away, and the Fife Coastal path runs along here so makes for a lovely walk to Crail harbour.
Crail and East Fife is a wonderful location, with great little fishing villages and cafes to explore, and St Andrews is just 15 minutes drive away. You can catch the bus right outside the apartment if you wave, and there are great views from the top deck of the bus into St Andrews.
Janet provided loads of information and suggestions of things to do, so you can have a happy and busy week.
We loved our stay at Balcomie Green, with the apartment and location contributing to a wonderful and relaxing family holiday. We would definitely stay again so throroughly recommended.
Rented this modern, and up to date 3 bedroom, two bath flat in Crail, Scotland for 5 nights at the end of August, 2016. This was an amazing place--we were so surprised and pleased with all the amenities included in the let. One bedroom with a queen size bed and and in-room suite. One bedroom with two single beds and another small bedroom with a single bed. A nice size 2nd bathroom with a shower and a full tub--great size bathroom. A utility room with a combo washer dryer which we used to it's fullest--laundry soap was also there in the room--which we replaced before we left. Also a ironing board and iron. The full kitchen was amazing--so many plates, cups, glasses, cooking pans, pots--you name it and it was there. Plenty of seasonings like salt, pepper and some instant coffee as well. No perk coffee maker but an electric pot to boil water and several French presses to make your coffee (filters too), I could go on and on about everything in the kitchen--you will not lack for anything to make your own meals. The kitchen is very modern and up to date. It is an open concept and the kitchen opens to a very large living room with a large flat screen tv and cable for all your viewing needs. Also excellent Wi-Fi in the house which you may or may not need to turn on--we didn't as it was up and running when we arrived. Janet and Jamie will send you plenty of instructions on how to find the house and how to get in and everything you need to know about the house-there is also a book in the living room with all the information also with lots of information about the area--nice touch. Plenty of towels and such which you will need to wash in the washing machine if you're there for awhile--no problem. Easy to find and with-in walking distance of everything in town--places to eat, small stores and restaurants and harbor. We used it as a base to play golf--Crail Golfing Society is less than 5 minutes away and St. Andrews and many other courses are not more than 15 or 20 minutes away--buses do run through town and stop right outside the house to take you into St. Andrews and other towns if you need it. Beautiful house (it's on the bottom floor with places above and next to it, very handicap accessible)--we wanted to stay there forever and if we return to Crail we hope we have a chance to stay in Janet and Jamie's place again--perfection- my 4 year old granddaughter even raved about the place! Also plenty parking places no need to look or fight for a parking place if you bring a car as we did.
