“One of my favourite places in th e world”
Reviewed 25 September 2010

Just back from another lovely week in North Devon. This time we stayed at a small caravan and campipng site in Braunton. One of our favorite plases to visit while down there is Woolacombe. It has a beautiful beach where you can walk for miles. Dogs are allowed on certian parts of the beach. Woolacombe its self is very dog friendly and dogs are allowed into the Boardwalk, The red Barn, the Golden Hind and Sopias Tapas.

There are a few surf schools for anyone interested in trying their hands (and feet) Woolacombe is small and unspoiled. It is a great place for a family holiday. There are loads and loads of campsites in the area most of a very high standard. There are also a number of hotels and B&Bs.

The area does not seem to suffer from lager louts and I have never seen any trouble there.

There is nothing better than sitting on the hill watching the surfers out on the water and watching the sun set.
I hope to go back next year

“Delightful Twitchin House Holiday park”
Reviewed 21 September 2010

My Wife and I decided to try Twitchin house hoilday park, for a basic, budget, affordable holiday during the mid September, mondday to friday offer.
Our no frills caravan was very well equiped for the price, and afforded lovely views over Woolacombe Bay. The site facillities were excellent, and we had a brilliant time, being well entertained with high standard cabaret acts, our favourite one being Andy P as Meatloaf, who was outstanding and spot on.
We will definately be going again, and the offers available mean everyone should find something to do, including the indoor pool and the use of three other sites, if you get bored!!
Well done to all the staff at Twitchin house for making our stay so enjoyable.

“Twichen House - A great break”
Reviewed 18 July 2010

We (myself, My partner and our little boy who's 3 yrs old) went to Twitchen House for a 4 day break. Upon arrival our caravan was ready. We chose to stay in an Estoril caravan and were really impressed with the condition and cleanliness of the unit. The weather was terrible for most of our stay but the caravan was well equipt and had heaters and a fire which only needed to be on for 5/10 mins or so before it was toasty warm. The only snag was there was no freezer section in the fridge but since getting back I think that is standard for the more expensive caravans. My son took about 1000 cars with him (or so it seemed) but there was ample space for him to play. We payed for the linen and we made the beds up. The quality of the linen was a little on the cheap side and our sheet had a rip in it but to be honest it was clean so we didn't bother getting it changed.
The park gears itself towards those with smaller children and those wanting to set their own pace. It lived up to its description. The activities were simple but fine for us with my little boy enjoying a touch of crazy golf, while discovering how to cheat at the same time and the indoor pool area was great and nearly empty each time we went. The outdoor play area was good fun too. Once the day was over we headed over to the clubhouse for the entertainment. The kids disco was great with party dances that my son is still singing. The highlight each night was Billy and Betty Beachball and dancing with all the other children. Once kids time was over the adult time begun with a game of bingo and then entertainment for adults. Whilst we were there we saw 1 professional act who was very very funny and all the while children were around and very well behaved. The entertainment was excellent and the entertainers were great with the kids and great with the adults.
As the weather was so bad during our stay we got the bus to Golden Coast, It was a great service and the Golden Coast had more indoor facilities for our son. We went to Waves Ceramic studio and painted some pottery which was great and then went to the indoor soft play area which was free to rid of some 3 year old energy.
All in all our experience was fantastic and we are going to return next year having added to our family by then so it should be great fun. We would recommend Twitchen House, indeed any of the Woolacombe Bay parks. Our son has a whale of a time and so did we.

“family holiday in North Devon”
Reviewed 10 July 2010

We stayed in the Southover Beach Apartments. It was clean, modern with everything we needed and right accross from the beach. I loved to sit in the garden overlooking the beach while the children watched the football on tv. The wonderful owners even left us chocolates and wine to start our holiday.
The boys had surfing lessons every day and the staff there were encouraging and fun.
Tides electric bar was our place for a relaxing drink in the evening sunshine, ..... bliss.
The Thai/chinese takeaway was fantastic and Sophies tapas bar delicious.
We feel relaxed and refreshed and will definately be back to this lovely seaside town where we were made to feel very welcome.

“Long sandy beach with lots of surfing”
Reviewed 1 December 2009

Woolacombe is a must for surfers and families alike. Miles of sandy beach and lots to do in the area. Pretty nearby villages of Mortehoe and Croyde.
